Hmm, What kinds of effects do you need to drell-ify your voice? That kind of effect on Thane's voice is oddly familiar.

It's a pitch-shifting algorithm, actually.
Duplicate the voice track, pitch one down, high-pass filter on the unmodified one and low-pass filter on the pitched one.

Oh, Do you have an example of that, I mean a sound file of it with your own try on drell-yfying a voice?

Quite simmilar i should say, but it still sounded a bit way too alien or robotic, i don't know which, i'll have to test something like this myself once i have some free time.

Maybe drop the pitch of your voice, Rig. Or increase the bass or something.

How about you harbinger-ify our voices?!?!?

In order to make the turian voice, what settings do you use? I've been working with GarageBand (I'm a Mac user) and there's always a "tin can" sound effect to my recorded voice.

I also have issue with Audacity since after a few seconds, the audio copy, if delayed, eventually fails to maintain the stated delay and falls way, way behind the original audio (possibly a glitch)

It's not hard, low pitch and deepen your voice, then you need some effects. Doesn't require special ones i think you could do it in audacity or something.

Slight british accent, lower pitch. There's
some chorus in there as well, I think. I haven't tried it out yet.

I duplicated my voice track, pitched one of them down 6 semitones, and ran that through a low pass filter.

Thanks!  I'm getting close with Garageband, but it's a little bit difficult to work with when dealing with semitones.

Well, you don't have to be precise. Just pitch it down until it sounds "right" to you ;)

Close. Increase the frequency threshold of the high pass filter on the unpitched track, and the low pass filter on the pitched track.

For the record, here are the instructions I sent him:
1) Record your voice. I used Edison to do so.

2) Import it into two audio tracks.

3) Put both of them in the playlist so they play simultaneously.

4) Pitch one of them down 12 semitones using the Monophonic
algorithm. Herein lies the secret.

5) Run each track through separate FX channels.

6) For the downpitched one, apply a low pass filter, cutting off at
around 3 Khz or so.

7) For the clean one, apply a highpass filter cutting off at around 2
Khz or so. This is so the "s" sounds shine through and aren't chopped
up by the downpitching process.

Hi RigAudio!

Thank you for this thread :)

Could you please describe step by step how you did the turian voice as well? - I really want to know how this is done!

Sure!

1) Record your voice

2) Import it into two audio tracks

3) Lower the pitch of one of them 6 semitones or so, using whatever algorithm (though it may also be Monophonic)

4) Apply a low pass filter to that lowered track and make the cutoff around 200 Hz or lower

That's pretty much all I did.

the turian sounds spot on, will sound exact with a deeper voice..

definately interested to hear a replication of sovereign's voice. i would have to say thats one of the best vocal effects i have ever heard!

i work in cubase, nothing professional at this stage but i am working on a few tracks of my own (hardstyle, for those of you that know of it) and a "sovereign voice" would be absolutely epic to re-use.

Yeah, I'm working on that. I had a great voice patch that came close, but the data for it got deleted when my OS was wiped out last week :(

Forgot about them, actually. Yeah, they should be pretty simple to replicate. I'll make a demo in a few days.

Krogan are also on my list, though it boils down to "lower pitch".

I noticed that the Krogan sound different in ME2 from ME1. A different method was used. It's a shame...I liked it. It sounded softer.

I don't think the method change as much as jsut new VA ((outside of wrex)) I mean to me all krogans just sound like deep voiced people.
