A bit of info: I am updated to 1.02 (of course), I have the DLC content Return to Ostagar, The Stone Prisoner, and Warden's Keep. In previous playthroughs, everything went fine.

I was playing as normal on my rogue just now when I realized that Alistair's weapon and shield were gone. They weren't DLC related, just the normal Oathkeeper and Eamon's Shield. I read that for some, simply logging out and logging back in fixes it. It didn't for me; in fact, it made things worse.

I now can't load a game on my rogue, period, as I keep getting the error: "This saved game includes Bioware premium content. To load this saved game, an owner of the following premium content must log in: Return to Ostagar". This is in spite of me already being logged in.

Checking my downloadable content shows Return to Ostagar being available for purchase, despite me already owning it. The download page shows it trying to download RtO and being stuck, because I apparently don't have version 1.02... which I in fact do. In addition to that, going to the Enabled Content page shows me as actually -having- RtO installed and activated, but that it's "unauthorized"!

What in God's name happened to my game, and how do I fix it?

For the issue with loading premium content make sure that the Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is running. Try manually starting it before you start the game:



1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER

2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.

3.) Right click it and select START



There seem to be some server problems tonight that might interfere with the service starting, or with the game talking to the server. If you continue to have problems you might want to log out and see if that helps with things. If you're not attempting to log in and connect with the possibly non-responsive server, all your DLC should load fine.



As for Alistair's Weapon and shield, check your inventory once the game has loaded. If they're not there, were you recently doing any quests where you put on a disguise, or where you lost your equipment? There can sometimes be some hiccups with getting equipment back after that.

I actually already attempted to start/restart the Content Update service, and it didn't help. Neither did logging out and logging back in, or trying to play while logged out, or anything like that. I really hope it's just an issue with the server...



As for Alistair's things, they aren't in my inventory, nor were they in the buyback option of the last merchant I talked to (the only merchant I talked to during that particular play session). I haven't done any quests requiring disguises or nakedness; the last thing I finished was The Arl of Redcliffe, and I was puttering around doing various "kill this, find this" side quests when I noticed Alistair was punching things instead of chopping them.

I just started having this problem with RtO showing up as installed an unauthorized, also shows as available DLC, and shows in the downloading section. My DAO update service was/is running. I was just playing normally earlier today.

Try this if you haven't already. Log out, then log in again and while doing so clear the "Always log me in" checkbox. Exit the game and restart, at this point you should be logged out. The game won't attempt to even talk to the server, and if your DLC is installed properly everything should show up as authorized and you'll be able load saves with "Premium Content", even if the server is having problems.  (And based on other threads where people can't buy RtO, redeem codes, or register games, that seems to be the case tonight.)

Double-check that the CD key is installed in the registry.  (See here)  That's required for DLC to work when you're not logged in.  However I'm not sure if you'll need to log in again and get content authorized first before offline play will work.

Well, now the "Available Content" and Download tabs are both empty, but RtO is still showing as unauthorized, whether I'm logged out or in.



I'm really starting to think it's a problem on their end... >.<

Shale has disappeared. I made an invisible version of him in camp by typing in the "runscript zz_addparty Shale" cheat, but he's totally missing from the choose party screen and in the game.



What gives?

There are quite a few DLC related issues, some of which are actual bugs and not server-side temporary issues like it seemed to be tonight. It's a right old mess, and that's not counting other in-game bugs that are still around.

Regarding your DLC issues, there's an FAQ stickied on the first page of this forum's sub-section that may help.

I have been playing the game with no issues till today. I go to resume the campaign and it tells me that it needs an owner of the RtO in order to play the save. I already got it and am not buying it again.

That took care of all the DLC content except RtO.  Still showing that it is installed unauthorized, it shows that it is downloading with no progress and also shows that it is available for purchase.  EA/Bioware appear to have borked something.

Yeah, its becoming abundantly clear that there's something wrong on the server side. People can't download DLC, authorize it, redeem codes, or register games.

i have a similar problem, i bought the game yesterday, installed and updated to 1.04 then redeemed the code for shale, now i cant resume my game because it says that i must be logged in to the correct account in order to access premium content, i am logged into the same account as i was when i redeemed the code, i was playing the game earlier today too, but now i cant
