                                                                                       Prologue

Earth sits in space alone, the only known planet in it’s galaxy to have intelligent life. Now so densely populated
that from space all the lights in the planet’s cities merge together to give off a dim aurora of light.  China now the
democratic superpower of Earth houses the elected leaders of all twenty-one global districts, as well as the Earth's presidential triad.  Each member of the triad is elected by one of the three remaining nations, of China, Australia, and Canada—none of which bare any resemblance to what the once were—each containing seven of the twenty one global districts. In just five hours time, the Earths global leaders plan to vote on a new strict population control law in which any one person may only have two genetic children at any one time. The air of the planet suddenly began reek of a pungent metallic like odor. All the lights on the planet stated to pulse in synchronous, the pulsing was steadily increasing faster and faster, faster and faster. Within seconds pulsing stop, than the lights increased in luminosity so much so that the dim aurora of light surrounding the Earth made it look like the solar system had second sun. Then as suddenly as the pulsing started the whole planet was sunk into darkness, except for a large blue vortex electric energy of swirling in front of the office of the presidential triad.

The whole Earth plunging into darkness thing has me thinking of Robert Charles Wilson's novel Spin. Otherwise, watch how "wordy" you're getting. Bigger words are not always better (luminosity should probably be replaced with brightness, things like that). I find reading my work out loud helps me keep it smooth. Every time I don't things get weird :/.

Australia has one of the largest reserves of minerals, the largest reserves of uranium and the largest reserves of coal. Canda has one of the biggest untapped oil reserves in the world. it would make sense for china to ****** off the countries it gets resources from.

Where did you get the idea for this opening OP?
