(I moved the post here because it deals with ME1) that is a GPF event when playing (or loading a save game)
in the ruins on Therum.
Only on Therum and specifically from the
exit of the last tunnel, where I encounter random restart, until right
before the entrance to the underground ruins, where I have never seen
what happen after that, because the PC always restarts (during the
cinematic sequence).
If I load a save game of other locations or I
start from the beginning, everything works great.
My PC
configuration is:
- Mobo: GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H (Realtek ALC889A
High Definition Audio!) - CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250
- RAM:
4Gb - HD1: Western Digital WD2500KS (system disk)
- HD2:
Seagate ST3500320AS - VGA: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512 Mb DDR3
- O.S.:
Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit OEM
Tool says that I'm OK, even if it sees only one core... and the config utility too... )
After reading all the tech posts/articles
in the Mass
Effect Forum, Steam
Forum and EA Support, I proceeded as
follow:
- I have updated all the drivers and the DirectX.
Standard
operation!
Now I have: ATI Catalyst 10.1 (latest from AMD/ATI are
the 10.2, but they do not introduce any change/improvement in my
configuration), latest Realtek drivers (r2.42), latest DirectX
(Distributable Package Feb2010) - Checked Steam game cache (of course, I have the Steam version, 1.0.2 patched).
- Disabled
UAC. - Updated OpenAL32.dll (see here
for details) - bioengine.ini deleted, game started, game
closed, change resolution only (to 1440x900). (see here
for details) - Assured that Hardware Audio: Disabled
(DeviceName=Generic Software) (see here
for details) - Local shader cache file deleted (verified also
"manually") - For preventing thermal issues, case opened
- Deleted
and re-installed the game repeating steps from 2 to 7.
NOTHING.
The problem remains.
I sent an e-mail to Bioware support.
In the meantime, anyone encounter (and solve, maybe...) the same problem?
Thx
