I had no reason to use the Vindicator, I was perfectly able to burst my own fire with the Avenger and once I got the Targeting VI upgrade, I didn't need to burst fire. It was full auto into their domes. And I deal on average almost an additional 1000 points of damage. (Avenger Ammo Vs Vindicator Ammo + base damage per round.)
The Vindicator does more damage per shot, and per burst than any of the automatic rifles. The difference is in how many shots you can fire with an automatic vs. the Vindicator. I take down enemies faster with it, and it has been my favorite and most used AR (and probably weapon) since I first tried it.
Case in point: It's incredibly useful and people do use it. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Who cares if the Vindicator does more damage per shot? The Avenger does more damage with it's staying power due to high ammo.
Obviously if it has higher damage it requires less shots.
The weapons more or less even out, with the Vindicator having higher Base DPS (calculated with fire mode and magazine cap in mind). Again, it depends on how many shots you need, and even on Insanity, fire fights against a single target don't ever drag out long enough that the automatic fire makes a noticeable difference, from my experience.

We dont need more heavys.
Do you know how many times I used heavy wepon once each just to see the effect nothing else.
The only heavy I used 3 times is the NUKE launcher. Once on some Blue Suns, once on The Maw and once on the Colossus.
I want more Guns not heavys give us some new Asault rifles, Snipers, shottys, smg and Heavy Pistols as well as "UNIQUE" SMGs and Heavy Pistols.
Heavy wepons dont even fit on you back they go over your sniper and block it.(if you got a sniper)
I second this motion.

There are more than enough ARs already in-game. We only really need more pistols and SMGs. And just because YOU only used a heavy weapon 3 times in a playthrough, doesn't mean everyone did.
Nobody used anything but the Avenger and the Revenant. The Vindicator was a joke, the Geth Pulse Rifle has variable damage and only CE players have the Collector Rifle. We need more USEFUL Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles.
I'm a soldier and I beat insanity 100% in less than 25 hours in NG+ at level 30 with a vindicator
where are your balls now?

No more flamethrower like weapons please. Flame thrower was a joke.
Agreed.
I actually screamed "***!" when I picked it up the second time I went through Zaeed's loyalty. Thank God for the locker.

What i can't bring myself to understand is the reaction. Half the forum complains there aren't enough weapons, they add one and people still complains. What's the point?

Vindicator is a very good rifle. High damage combined with great accuracy. Easy to score headshots. People complain about low ammo. It doesn't need more ammo because it's compensated by high damage. I never run out of ammo with Vindicator, not before every enemy was dead.
And this is why we need stats on the weapons.
Seriously Bioware, how hard could it be to put stats in the descriptions.

Bioware didn't include stats because (and they repeatedly said this themselves) they were going for a more feel based approach with the weapons, rather than simple statistical superiority. It's a good idea but it limits options unfortunately, they can only make so many variations based on feel and effectiveness versus various defences, whereas a stats based approach allows for a huge amount of variation.
Wouldn't really call it 'variation' if its stat-based, but can't be noted by feel and effectiveness. That just means the stats aren't powerful enough to make a notable difference, so it still doesn't matter which one you use, the one 10 more damage or the one with 1% more accuracy(assuming you don't have strait upgrades instead, like ME1, where every stat is better).
The number of guns they can make that feel different are more limited, but still, they could have done better then just 2 guns for each class(not counting the special training guns or limited guns like DLC and the Geth Pulse Rifle). I was a little dissapointed in the Widow, actually. Not because its not an awesome weapon, but because its a strait upgrade to the starting SR. Should have been more power, but only 5 or so shots, IMO.
Still, I'm not going to argue against free DLC, whatever it is. They could slap a price tag on it instead, after all.

Well it's better than one so I'm not going to complain about it.

Agreed. It worries me that the devs apparently have no clue what kind of small dlc's the (IMO) majority of players actually want. We get; full armors with no custom options, and heavy weapons!?
I'm sorry that it sounds like I don't like the game, but it's actually the other way around - I like ME so much, that I want it to be as good as possible, otherwise I wouldn't bother writing anything.
P.S. I almost deleted my post, cause I sound like an unthankful jerk!
...so I'll try and remedy that: Thank you bioware for making awesome, intelligent, exciting and fun games.
Please remember; if we didn't appreciate your hard work, you wouldn't be selling games, and there would be nothing to read here

I'm pretty sure that Bioware has a schedule for this kind of thing as well and while many people at the moment seem to be banging their head against the wall in frustration with another heavy weapon, its free. Why complain? In all likelihood this game will see a ton of DLC in its lifetime before the next in the trilogy comes out. Bioware has had a great idea in keeping the DLC free and we can only hope it stays that way.
I know there are a lot of arguments as well for Bioware not keeping you up to date with EVERYTHING minute by minute, but they don't need to. They'll release information and DLC when they are ready to.
In the meantime have patience because as a developer it would seem utterly ridiculous for them not to take what their fan base says on board. Problems will get patched eventually and most likely we will see more DLC involving both weapons and armor, maybe even characters in the future. Until then there is little point in complaining about it, you should enjoy what Bioware have given you, a stellar game with exceptional replay value and the promise of new content in the future.
In all honesty I can't say that there are many developers out there who would give a game the same attention that Bioware have.

A pistol or SMG for the non-soldiers to enjoy would be nice. Maybe something to make up for specific class weaknesses. An anti-barrier pistol for engineers or the like. A couple of crazy outfits to run around the ship in would be neat as well. Some more bits of N7 armor too.
Heavy weapons are cool to look at once or twice but really I use only 3 of them consistently and they cover pretty much every situation I need.

we do not need any more heavy weapons....like for a while. there are still other classes of weapons that have been severely neglected and they need to be brought up to par with the selection present with the other classes.
