So, I found this pool with a jug in it.

I filled the jug with water, and took it to the altar. First I tried praying at the altar, and that didn't work, then I set the jug on the altar and prayed and I found Shades, the door wouldn't open, and I haven't been able to get anything else to work.

The steps are in your Journal:



Fill jug

Put on altar

Pray

Sip

Pour out jug into pool/fountain

Prepare for fight...

I didn't have the quest? Is there something that I needed to find first?

Doing the above just opens the door to the shrine. This is part of the tombstone quests that you find in the forest. If you haven't done those yet, once you get inside the shrine and finish the battle, you'll get notice of the quest and that you've finished 1 part.

This isnt working for me. All that happens for me is that the water in the jug boils out of the jug after I pray, so no water to drink, or pour back in the pool.

I had trouble with this quest also but it turned out that I didn't have all the pieces. There's a tablet or something in another room inside a coffin and that has to be in your inventory before the water stops boiling in the jug. That room isn't all that far away from the pool area either so don't go looking for it all over the place and just stick at least to the same level.

I'm stuck on this... I can't put the jug on the altar. I've filled it, and I found a "broken stone altar", but it just tells me that it looks like there's an indentation to put something on it. There's no actions available. I do have the tablet. Is there something else I missed?

That's not the right altar, the altar with the indentation is the one where you can get the Arcane Warrior specialization.

Huh... okay... so I guess I'll go explore again. I didn't see another altar but I must have just missed something.

Edit: Found it!  How I missed it before, I'll never know.

I'm a bit stuck here as well, but in a different way.



I did not do the ritual, but went to explore the chambers opposite the shrine door. There i got attacked by some skeletons, which I killed. A second wave spawned, but as I began to fight them, I was sucked into the cutscene in the shrine. After that fight, I was in the shrine behind the locked door, and it says I need a key to open it.



Is there a way out or do I have to reload?

I had the same thing happen, a couple hours I gave up.
