Well...since Shepard is forced to take the shuttle as EDI is testing the IFF...why can't shepard pick his combat squad and leave the rest on board the normandy. That way, at least the majority of the combat force can stay on board the normandy, and counting them, that's like 9 will be left!! Maybe then the crew wouldn't be in such a dire state when the normandy was invaded...haha.

And, looking at the shuttle interior...from Jack's loyalty mission and the beginning of the game. Just imagining all 12 members squeezing into the small shuttle makes me feel uncomfortable. LOL.

So he didn't have to go back and forth if he wanted to switch out squad members, especially when going on the NEXT mission after the one he didn't get to go on (because Joker called him back.)

The mission isn't so much as a plothole as it just assumes Shepard has a place to go, and the game forces you to go there. (Which you usually do, unless you finished all sidequests before that part, like I did.)

Yeah... that was a plothole. But they had to think of something. Besides, you wouldn't be able to play as Joker that way. And that mission is priceless, even though it's short as hell and not challenging at all.

It's mildly stupid, but forgiveable.

I dont have to look at it...the codex clearly states that the shuttle seats 12.

And if you listened to EDI, she says something about the possibility of something going wrong during the IFF installation, so getting everyone important off the ship actually makes sense if you think about it.

Yes as mention, read the codex! Altho Grunt might take up 2 seats!. xD

I do agree it wasnt very well handled the way the IFF kicks off.
Like having zero choice to tell EDI to wait with the IFF installment is mindblowing annoying, lol.

Buuut the story needed to move forward blabla with the "save the crew or not, roar" moment. And having your hole crew on the normandy as a collector ship parks next to your "dead" normandy probably wouldnt have been a solid idea, which EDI do mention.

I do however wonder what mission Shepard and his band of heroes went on. =P

The cutscene popped up just as I was about to have Shepard explore the Normandy crash ****e. It felt mighty ironic to me: called back from scouring the wreckage of your old ship to find out the bugs that destroyed it now abducted the crew of your new ship.

Damn Collectors.

My first playthrough I got it going to Omega. Seemed very logical at the time. We go a short hop away shopping or whatever, and Collector's take the opportunity to pop through the Omega 4 Relay and surprise the Normandy

Of course, it doesn't always work out that way.

It happened during Zaeeds loyalty mission.

Well that is the only thing that can explain why Vido is able to get away if you take the paragon route.

Yeah well...I can accept this part for what it is. It's just would you think twice before bringing everybody away? I mean in reality if you're commanding the Normandy.

And the capacity...haha ok you guys got me. I didn't read.. But whatever the codex says, the shuttle size sure as hell doesn't look that way. Since in ME the codex is bible...oh well.

I wish this had been done in another way, though, as it's just far too obvious for the player what's going to happen. Better would have been to have the IFF not work properly when first turned online, so EDI/Joker/whoever must fine tune it. Later on, for some completely unrelated reason you have to take the whole crew down to a planet, and that's when the attack happens, e.g. investigating a lead on a planet with suspected Collector activity, and due to some weird energy surrounding the planet, Normandy can't get close enough to easily call squad-mates back and forth and so you should take them all. Anything but the contrived, "We're going to use the IFF, but we know something will go wrong and we don't you or your squad to be able to help."

It would have been nice if there was another story mission while the IFF was being installed that actually required all of your combat crew members taking the shuttle. Like a mini-version of the suicide mission where you have to have fire teams and specialists and what not.

Because yea, as it was implemented, it just feels lazy

Yes... that would have been good. Especially if it was a real mission. Then you'd execute it and when you finished, you'd get the kidnapping.

Once i get caught in Citadel space (i think that was right before Thane's loyalty mission because i go for the IFF device too fast (that was my second run) after Timmy told me about that dead reaper) and i was "What a... how could collector ship appear right in front of the Citadel and where are Citadel defence ships????" that's why i find firing up that part of the game pretty wicked.

I kind of think that your entire squad is always with you, but you go in threes because that is what fits on a screen. I like thinking they are always with you, but just out of sight.
