Hey Folks,
Sorry to bother the community with another Branka topic, but i am really desperate.
It's my first play trough and so i am fairly new to the game.
And here i am fighting Branka over and over again, the best i could pull off was all golems dead and Branka at 80%(Never got this far ever again)
Now my biggest problem is, i am totally out of potions of any kind. And i don't have a healer of any kind in my party. My current group set up is Alistair, Leliana, Ohgren and me, Blood mage.
Is there anything i can do to make this work ?
Reading other topics i feel like i have made a lot of weird choices during the game to end up in the state i am in, such as without Wynne(I killed her earlier) and probably the way i have spent my talents

Looking for some kind help pleas.

The Lyrium Veins can help you heal.  Try to use those first then go into potions.  What crowd control spells do you have?

The biggest problem with this fight is that it follows right after a conversation cut-scene and you can't setup as you would like. Concentrate your attacks - kill the nearest enemy golem first. Ignore Branka and just take down the enemy golems one after another.



It may not be possible to do this without healing potions or a healer (why did you kill Wynne???).

Yes i am using the Lyrium Veins non-stop. And sadly i am just out of potions from before the fight.
As far as cc goes, i have captivating song, sleep, waking nightmare and horror. Non seems to work on these.

I did not really wanted to kill Wynne, she just got really angry with me when i wanted to go up in the tower and slay the mages.

You have a blood mage. That's good. You need to break the fight into tasty bite sized morsels. Branka is a major pita. Her golem pals are walking sacks of hit points.



You either:



1. Try to take Branka down really fast.

or

2. Take out her minions first.



The safest approach is 2. Branka is unusual for a dwarf in that she can use the lyrium veins to heal herself, restore her stamina aned create mirror images of herself.



Lelianna, Alistair and yourself can use the same lyrium veins to heal and restore health and mana. Oghren can not.



Ifyou have force field, cone of cold, the paralyze glyph or any other spell that can possibly put a boss on ice, use it on Branka. Otherwise have Alistair tank her and keep her occupied. Do not worry about him doing damage at this point. When his health dips below 50% have him run to a lyrium vein and recharge. Everyone else dogpiles on the golems. Take them out starting out with the white ones and working your way up to the yellow ones, one at a time. Use the lyrium veins freely.



When the last golem drops, then put everyone except your mage on to Branka. Your mage should clear out any remaining lyrium veins. They do re-spawn, so keep an eye on them. Once the lyrium veins are sucked dry, then use everyone on Branka. Anything your mage can do to stun, immobilize or disrupt her is a good idea.

Which strategy did you use? How close was it?

It was all of a sudden pretty solid, i had 3 members left, only Ohgren died.

At the start of the fight i had my all party move to the right of the "room" so when Branka moved towards me with the 4 golems, the 2 helping golems would pick them up which saved me some time and which means less damage on me for a while. From that point on i started to focus fire first the white golems, they went down very fast. Next stage for me was putting Ohgren on Branka and with the rest of the group downing the 2 yellow Golems. At this point everyone was somehow still alive and i changed allot between Alistair and me to pick up the lyriums. Next part was pretty tricky, for me at least Ohgren died, so i had my mage and Leliana doing their stuff on Branka from ranged and main while kitting her with Alistair in a really big bow around the room. Right then Alistair's health was at around 30% and i was really in some sort of panic yet very happy that i could get that far for the first time.(Branka was at 50%at this time) Then i just realized (you can slap me if you wish:) that i could loot the gollems we just killed. And so it seems that the Maker was smiling upon me, they all gave a potion or two. Kitting did the trick for me, perhaps not the best of tactics, but that did not take away the joy i had defeating her.

Branka is pretty powerful, how'd did you hold her off while fighting the golems? Ohgren can't do it for long...

I think i must have been lucky that the 2 helping golems kept her busy for a little.

By the time they were dead i killed the 2 white hostile golems and from that point on i left Ohgren to have some quality time with her.

This has always been the hardest fight for me.  I don' t know why, but siding against Branka has always given me troubles.

I used an arrow of slaying on her from leliana - which got her undivided attention - and she ran circles around the room with branka trailing behind while the rest of my characters killed the golems one by one. My PC healed/stunned with blood wound/cone of cold when branka started getting close to leliana.



You'll have to pause quite a bit if you're doing this.



After the golems died it wasn't hard. I had shale tanking, if that makes any difference.

Use your mage to CC everything. Blood wound, crushing prison, paralyze, mass paralyze, glyph of paralyze, stone fist, fireball. If everything is incapacitated your other 3 characters are free to DPS. My typical group involves me(Blood mage) and 3 other DPS I use a respec mod to get 2x DW warriors and 1x DW rogue... crazy amounts of damage especially when combined with death hex

The first time I won this battle, I had to drop it to easy and I dropped every single AoE spell I had on the entire group.  Yea it went pretty smooth after that.

If you have Leliana Specced with Ranger get her to summon a wolf and Tac the wolf to use Dread Howl, Overwhelm, and Shred whenever the Main Character is attacked. My Rogue ranger did that and it kept her out of the fight until she did the turn into four people thing which were much easier to take down with ranged attacks.



I actually had a much easier time with that play through in this battle than with my Mage and no Ranger Rogue in the party.



If you don't have Leliana Specced with Ranger talents use Force field and Cone of cold her when the force field wears off. It's a little more work but the same basic effect. Blood Wound and Crushing Prison should work against the Golems. Maybe throw a few lightning bolts and Life Drains at them. Arcane bolt has a nice short recharge so you can use it often and still ave it available for the four Branka's, Winters grasp is good for cool down too but doesn't seem to do much damage against Golems. Just be sure to take them out fast because Branka will come on strong once the disabling spells wear off.

I should note that I did these play throughs on Easy so i don't know if these tactics will work on Normal, Hard or Nightmare. Also I didn't know if Blood Wound paralyzes bosses I know crushing Prison won't. My understanding is that it should paralyze the Golems for a pretty large radius and should paralyze and Crushing Prison should paralyze and kill one Golem. You might Get Cone of Cold back in time to use it on the Golem's too and Shock is a good dpser for Clustered enemies. Mind Blast will actually Briefly stun Branka if she gets too close. It won't last long though and given it's range you'll need to move fast with your next spell or get out of the way fast.
