Mass Effect 4 and beyond

A couple of ideas:
-FPS/RPG in the style of Deus Ex, maybe about a lone Spectre (since most of them apparently work alone)
-RTS in the style of Starcraft, maybe about the Rachni wars and the Krogan rebellions
-Squad based shooter in the style of Left 4 Dead, maybe about a group of N7-specialists
-Stealth based game in the style of Splinter Cell games, maybe about a lone Cerberus operative
-Space combat game in the style of Freespace series, maybe about a fighter pilot in the first contact war
-and etc.
Basically the plot and style variations are pretty much endless. So should they branch out the Mass Effect universe with different kind of games, or would this ruin ME forever and they should just make ME games in the style of the current games.

It is too soon to start branching out to other genre's or other developers. Mass Effect is a wee baby as far as IP's go.

-or-
Guild Wars multiplayer instancing with ME2s intuitive squad play and out of mission dialogue roleplaying, with sidequests being done solo with lots of divergent choices.
You heard it here first folks. idk why Bioware still has design meetings, that ought to just phone me xD

I know there wont be "ME 4", it merely indicates a game that is made in the style of ME 1 and 2.
I know ME is young IP, but this a purely hypotethical thread since it already shows such promise.

Bioware making a RTS based on the Starcraft 2's out of mission point and click/roleplaying turned into real time with "moral choices" combined with WH40k squad items and squad system.
Maybe there is big surprise and ME 3 is exactly like this, a real fullscale war against the Reapers.

It has been confirmed, that after the "Shepard-trilogy" there will be more Mass Effect games. I've been thinking that since Bioware has created such an large universe, there could be room to make different kind of games that are placed in the ME universe.

Personally, I think the entire trilogy is building up to an MMORPG. That's what I want to see.
This could very well happen, sice Bioware are already doing the Kotor MMORPG for practice. Could be a great or very terrible game.
I can already picture it. The name of the players: Shep@rd, Shepard1, thetrueShepard, theoneandonlyShepard and of course Tali1 to Tali1000357.

It's doubtful that BW would want to maintain two MMOs at once, but it's almost certain that they would not cannibalize their own market with an inhouse sci-fi MMO competitor. Not gonna happen.(Which is a good thing)

If anything a KoToR MMO makes a ME MMO almost impossible.

I'm not so sure. The earliest we're gonna see ME3 is early 2011, more likely mid to late 2011. The average development time of an MMO is 5-7 years. Remember when Mass Effect came out, a lot of people were sure that meant we wouldn't see another KoTOR game. It's a sad fact that not many MMOs have the staying power of WoW (not a fan myself). There's no reason why we couldn't see a ME MMO before the end of the decade. As for whether or not it should be made - let's wait til SW:TOR comes out first - it promises to break the MMO mould. There's no denying that the ME universe would be a great setting for an MMO though...

I know it will never happen, because it'd be a significant investment for something that has essentially "been done before". I still think, however, that it'd be a commercial success.
And I hope to god we'll never see a ME MMO.

Just imagine playing as Spec-ops Turian who encounters horror's such as Massive Krogan's, husks or even a encounter with a Collector all witnessed in first-person.

ME post ME3 takes place in galaxies other than the Milky Way. Keep it single-player and story driven imo
Maybe similarly to what we ultimately did with the Collectors in ME2, we "take the fight" outside the Milky Way to the Reapers' turf. Or does that risk going outside ME's core value principles? I think Bioware has a list of these fundamentals that define ME so that it's clear what stays within the brand and what goes outside of it. I'm interested to see where they take it through ME2's current life and also the long view.

not verly likely possibilities imho...bioware doesn't make RTS or games without squad mates . why would they stop making story-driven rpgs? they are good at it. so no rts, lone spectre, stealth oder freespace etc.
just games with a great story, good npcs and moral choices^^

I agree. I would love to see a real RPG set in the Mass Effect universe.Aedan_Cousland wrote...
If the Mass Effect universe lives on beyond the Shepard Trilogy, I hope future games are also RPGs. I would be much less interested in a pure shooter or an RTS. Although I do enjoy shooters and RTS games, the ME universe is best explored in a role playing game. Anything else wouldn't have the same immersion factor.
