I have to agree. I used to be strongly anti-mmo for the ME universe. But after seeing what they're doing with TOR and the 4th pillar of MMO, i think they can pull it off excellently. It would actually be nice to play as a Turian, or Krogan, Human, Asari, etc.. And if not MMO, then a DA:O styled RPG where you can play as different races.

Honestly one day the Mass Effect IP should become a major MMORPG in a universe so large and vast that it becomes the ultimate sandbox in one the best fantasy worlds ever created. With all sorts of combat etc etc, I'm thinking in the vein of EVE Online, but that's just my opinion.

Someone mentioned Halo as an example earlier...what if Bioware (or EA) tried something like they did with ODST (i.e. set during the trilogy timeline, but not directly affiliated with the main plot)? Personally, I'd be interested in seeing something based off of Garrus' experience leading his anti-merc squad on Omega. It'd give Bioware a chance to really flesh out that particular environment, which has so much untapped potential, and possibly give the mercs a bit more of a story, rather than just being a bunch of generic color-coded a**holes. Personally, I also wouldn't mind if they gave you the option to play as either Garrus or as a customizable turian subordinate (batarians and salarians are cool and all, but the turians just seem infinitely more badass, IMO.)

Obviously, just an idea, but figured I'd toss it out there.

A game that is placed between ME 1 and ME 2 could be a good option (it's two years after all) considering  the timeline, or a prequel to the trilogy. Prequel would be the easiest solution, because then Bioware wouldn't have to take the events (different alternatives) of the "Shepard-trilogy" into consideration.

Using an already established character as a main character. I don't think that is a very good idea, since all of them already have a distinct personality, it would be harder to make them into your "own" character as well as Shepard who is basically a complete blank slate at the beginning of ME 1. So I think that using a completely new character as the main character could be a better solution (if the game is made in style of ME 1-3).

Omega as a important place of events would be great. I would like to see a game that would plotwise be "Firefly meets the Mass Effect universe".:o

I'd love to see a Freelancer type of game set in Mass Effect universe. What a game Freelancer was/is.

The best spinoff for Mass Effect would be a Homeworld-style RTS.

Honestly the information they have released about The Old Republic sounds pretty close to what I imagine my ideal Mass Effect game would be: fully voiced, free roaming, story-and-character (squadmate) driven ongoing saga that they will continue to add narrative and content to for years.

That, but set in the ME universe = perfection.
