Female Shepard vs Male Shepard

At any rate to me the voice actress of the female Shepard is awesome no matter your playing style (paragon or renegade). The male Shepard's voice is not as daunting as I'd like it to be, plus it sounds like he's just reading his lines. Playing a renegade male Shepard even makes the game ridiculous. He sounds like a little kid trying to cause a ruckus instead of the bad-as.s. you want him to be. Female Shepard says everything like she means it. Male Shepard doesn't really seem to care.
Anyone else have this experience?

I prefer Male Shep voice. Meer has really improved from ME1 to ME2.

But it's okay, I prefer playing as a female character in 3rd-person games anyway. If I'm gonna have to stare at my characters butt for twenty hours, might as well make it interesting.

Romance optionwise, true. Especially in ME2 the female Shepard is stuck with ugly aliens and a black dude. I'm no racist, but that doesn't work for me. I tend to go for the female - female relationship. Liara always is the one to choose in ME1. Kaidan always dies. Female - female relationships got the short end of the stick in ME2. Samara shouldn't even be an option. ffing gross.CajunRexShepard wrote...
I have yet to play a female shep... I'm a guy and I like having something to look at too, but for some reason I cannot picture my shepards being chicks, and let's face it- the LI options are better for male shepards than femsheps. Meer's VA talents are pretty good, I thought... I believe he was pretty well told to 'hold back' on many of his lines to give Shepard that 'cool collected' demeanor a good leader requires. I dunno.

Then have a tie breaker in the captain's quarters. It would be a tough fight, while Male Shep has reach, but female shep has flexibilty.

Wouldn't that just be like some weird parallel universe form of Masturbation? I mean, you're screwing yourself.

That's interesting because I feel the exact opposite. what makes you say the female Shepard doesn't sound believable? The only time she went out of character for me was when randomly talking to Jacob. She's nice and cozy with him right off the bat. I was like what the hell are you doing biatch!Markinator_123 wrote...
Personally, I thought Jennifer Hale did a terrible job in Mass Effect 2. She didn't sound believable at all.

I understand you apparently hate the idea of black men with white women, but have you SEEN Jacob without his shirt?

Subjectively speaking, most of her lines sound forced. She is trying to sound badass but failing miserably.

Mark Meer: Great, though better or worse than above depending on opinion.

I think I understand where you're coming from. sometimes her lines are a little awkward. Still the male Shepard sounds worse to me. It's dull and squeamish. The female Shepard has a mature voice, the rest is all up to the director.Markinator_123 wrote...

Fortunately, Bioware catered to the overwhelming support most women gamers showed for alien romances for femSheps in ME2, as opposed to what males playing femSheps wanted, which was lesbian sex scenes.

I've never been able to play a MaleShep game. I CAN NOT STAND Mark Meer's voice-acting in these games. I'd rather listen to Harbinger's ranting than Meer's bland zombie voice. Something about his voice just grates on my nerves.
I agree. With all due respect, I think Mark Meer's voice acting is absolutely godawful. Granted, I'd be playing a female Shepard even if John was voiced by David Hayter, but that doesn't change the fact that Jennifer Hale is leagues above Mark Meer.

I wouldn't mind the options if there were more of them. As it is now all of them are terrible. Another thing is that BioWare seems to care more about external influences nowadays. Even the sex scenes that were innocent as hell in ME1 got toned down.Llandaryn wrote...

Proof of an endless debate! Once again restating I thought Jennifer Hale was godawful. I am starting to believe that Jennifer Hale's support in this game stems pure fanboyism/girlism or whatever because I can't see how Hale was better than Meer. No offense to anybody!
