Good for you, you know how to define racism.
Just sounds like you're black and overreacting about a abysmall statement that could be defined as racism.

It "sounds like I'm black", huh? I'm not black. But stay classy.

Only black people are allowed to care about racism, apparently.

This forum fails so much on a daily basis.

Male shepard all the way. Even though Shepard is his own character, i still like to place myself into the playable character's shoes and have that connection, something i just can not do with a female shep. Plus, i prefer Male shep's VA. It's calm and collected and gives more impact to the more intense moments when he does show emotion. Plus, his drunken scene is funnier imo. The way he says "DO IT!" with a slur while asking for another drink just made me laugh until i cried. Plus, there's plenty of female character's to stare at or romance for eye candy. Like Kelly. Or Kelly.

Plus, nothing beats "Wanna dance? Watch this!" with a male shep, lol.

This too, definetly. Some of the things that Shepard does (especially renegade shepard) i just couldn't imagine a female shep doing. No offense. And at the end of the day, it's all about getting immersed in the game, which is why most tend to play as their own gender. We identify with our own gender. And if we want eye candy, we can call kelly up to shepards quarters for some....extra-curricular activities.

i like male-shepard's delivery on comedy-lines. like on grunts recruitment mission.

Mordin: "Adding insult to injury, literally. necessary?"

Shepard: "No, felt good though..."

First game I pefered female shapard just liked the way she sounded. First play through I loaded one of my female shapards and as soon as I heard he go all ****y when talking to Jacob I stoped playing her. I do not care if he was a romace option but for the love of god why does she have to sound like a ****.

As I played the make shapard I think he fit more in this game. Though he still creeps me out when I talk to jacob the way he elans against the table. Maybe it is just bad memories from female shapard acting so...really I am suprised they did not have her jump on table and spread em while saying come on big boy.

Yes it is my problem but I auctually thought jacob woudl be one of my favorites in the new game and now I can not even talk to him. I talk to him enough to get is loylity mission and upgrade. Do not see him again till last mission when him and miranda are makeing goo goo eyes at each other :P

ME1 = Female Shapard Voice Acting

ME2 = Male Shapard Voice Acting

That's interesting because I feel the exact opposite. what makes you say the female Shepard doesn't sound believable? The only time she went out of character for me was when randomly talking to Jacob. She's nice and cozy with him right off the bat. I was like what the hell are you doing biatch!

I understand you apparently hate the idea of black men with white women, but have you SEEN Jacob without his shirt?

Soooo....am I the only one that remebers you can make the femlae Shapard any color or race when you make her? Just like the male Shapard can be made any race or color. I mean you could make a black Shapard and make out with Miranda. I guess you miss out on the no shirt thing I guess but I guess I am just to dumb to get this.

Personally, I think Hale sounds like she was sitting on a traffic cone during the voice recording.

I always play as male characters, can't get as immersed if I am playing as a woman. I just wish I could make a non-default Cmd. Shepard that didn't look awful.

This

----------------------------------------

Anyway...I prefer Paragon Male Shep, i just prefer Meer's calm (monotone?) voice
Hale's voice is more emotive and "passionate"?? , so that's the reason i have a Fem Shep that's renegade
Although i do find that some of Meer's renegade options are better than Hale's and vice versa, her paragon options are somewhat better. So overall Meer = Para Shep and Hale = Rene Shep

Male for renegade. You really feel that you shouldn't cross this bad a**...

Female for paragon, and romance. She just says those lines better with emotions.

Overall, Meer has improved for ME2. He's more 'human' now than ME1. Hale has continued to be good, but some of her lines are not distinct enough. Very similar tones for 2 types of emotions but easily overlooked.

Lastly, I prefer Male Shepard. I think I got brainwashed by BioWare b/c they advertise Mass Effect with Male figure. So the image of shepard is set as Male in my mind.

Let's get the racism thing out of the way people. Many of you are over-analyzing. It has to do with personal preference. And as for with me being a heterosexual white guy being odd in the context it is not in fact. I cannot identify with a black man, but only with a white man. That might be a shortcoming on my end, but that's just the way it is.

The problem is I already knew Jacob was fanservice when he entered the screen for the first time. That plus the fact that the female Shepard can't have a decent platonic talk with him without telling him to shut up is also what annoyed me. She's either allover him or she hates him.

I even picked Jacob to enter the crawling section because I thought he would be best suited for the job. Didn't know he would die if you picked him...

At any rate the female Shepard should be allowed to romance either Tali or Miranda. Event hough I dislike Miranda's face (yeah I'm a racist against white people too!), I'd rather have her than any of the choices the female Shepard has in ME2.

So Garrus/Thane are a fanservice because women gamers wanted an alien LI as romance, and Jacob is a fanservice because he's a black human man with impressive pecs?

Seems women in this game are screwed whichever way they lean. They should all just become space-nuns or something and take vows of celibacy so that future games aren't inflicted with terrible aliens and black people.

I even picked Jacob to enter the crawling section because I thought he would be best suited for the job. Didn't know he would die if you picked him...

You picked Jacob for the job that requires a technical expert after Miranda specifically states "dude, you suck at tech, LOL"? And you think there's a problem with the game?

At any rate the female Shepard should be allowed to romance either Tali or Miranda. Event hough I dislike Miranda's face (yeah I'm a racist against white people too!), I'd rather have her than any of the choices the female Shepard has in ME2.

So... aliens and black guy as fanservice for female gamers = bad. Tali/Miranda lesbian fanservice for males playing female Shepards because they don't like aliens and black guys = good.

Your logic astounds me.

Now in short you've drawn a wrong conclusion thrice from my post which was as clear as it can be. Go rub your grey mass and come back when it's in working order.

See, if I was the only one "drawing the wrong conclusions" from your posts, I might be inclined to humour you. But several people have picked up on such things, which leads me to believe that it is not he conclusions that I'm drawing which are wrong, but the way in which you're expressing your opinions.

Granted, it may have been somebody else who voiced the opinion that certain characters are fan-service for gamers, but you did specifically say that you'd rather have a "good game" than one that's been regurgitated by a group of fanfic people (or something to that effect) which leads one to believe that you do consider certain aspects of the game to be too unrealistic to the average gamer, and that the aspects which people actively campaigned for, were not the aspects that you found 'good'.

It's already been stated, in interviews with Bioware, that you don't have the same sort of freedom with Shepard as you do with your DA:O protagonist. In short, it amounts to "If you want to romance women, play a maleShep". Your post may be crystal clear to you, but unfortunately, this is the internet, and there's no such thing as telepathy. I don't know what's going on in your head -- I'm sure that to you, your post is crystal clear. To me, and no doubt to others, it's not.

And femShep is interested in other women too. See Liara.

I honestly like both voice acting though I don't feel it was as good as the voice acting in ME1. The part I don't like about female Shepard's (Jennifer Hale) voice acting is almost every time she seems to talk to Jacob it almost seems like she's trying to get a sultry tone in her voice even if you have no plan's to romance him.

lol. I kicked his conversational ass first time we talked on the Normandy. Very satisfying renegade lines. Since then it's been strictly business, no personal convo's and has worked like a charm. No skanky dialogue coming from MY Shep! The only prob is he's there to comment on every(?) new team member that boards and can't realize that my Shep doesn't give a damn what he thinks.

I'm with Llandaryn on this one. It does seem like all you're saying there should be fanservice lesbianism (I thought exactly the same thing when I saw you mention Tali/Miranda as better romance options for FemShep) and not the options we have (which I love. Garrus was who I wanted in the first place and Thane's looks are in a league of their own).
