What a very bard-like thing to say...

I'm on to you.

I couldn't possibly be a bard.

I'm an absolutely TERRIBLE singer, you see.

Yes, it's entirely different. Let's see, out a bit of cash or dead? Yeah, different.

You're still hung up on the subject of power and duress.  Zevran is a slave who's been raped, manipulated, and abused his whole life.  His life is constantly on the line.  You can call it a gray area if you want, but I don't see him as any more guilty than his marks.

Well, yes, since that's basically what the entire thread is about. And yes, I do know about Zevran's past, but I fail to see how knowing it somehow makes his willingness to accept sex offered by a victim something that can be brushed aside with a simple "oh, that's just Antiva" or "oh, those women knew what they were doing."

Have you heard Leliana in battle? It's really just yelling.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again... if I were his victim, I'd 'hit it'.  What better way to go?  So I find the idea that his victims in those stories enjoyed it to some degree and understood what they were doing to be pretty believable.

And besides, in a way, he's also the victim.  He's a pawn in the game these people are playing, and not by choice.  If he enjoyed the sex as well, or felt like it was an act of kindness or part of playing the game to it's fullest for them, I won't begrudge him that.  Because yes... that IS Antivan culture, isn't it?

Oh, really? So, if I totally hot guy broke into your house and held a gun to your head, the only thing you'd be thinking is "holy ****, I really want to have sex with him before he kills me." I don't buy it. They may have had some pleasure from the act, but there's still the thought of escaping THE ASSASSIN in the back of their minds.

No, he's not a victim, at least not to his marks. He's the killer. And I'm really getting tired of the "it's Antiva" fail of an argument. Unless one of the writers tells me that Antiva is basically one giant orgy with a few assassins thrown in for flavor, it's not a full picture of society.

*head desk*  You're takeing it out of context.  If I were an Antevan, playing the game like the others.  Circumstances and culture make a big diference in how people react to situations.  If I were an Antevan pissing off and backstaing others in my climb to power, I wouldn't be surprised to find a Crow in my window.  These women weren't inocents.  That is FACT.

I'm amused at how worked up you're getting.  I'm not going to change my mind.  This argument isn't going anywhere, and you are free to feal as offended as you want about fantasy characters in a fantasy culture doing horrible horrible fantasy things.  This is getting too silly and the fun of it is wearing off.

Yes, I'm putting into a modern context, but only to show how ridiculous the argument is that somehow a last request would be for sex. No, a last request is getting out alive. I might not be surprised to find a Crow in my window either, but my first thought wouldn't be about sex, no matter how innocent I was. It would be getting away, which is something you continue to fail to understand. If sex is "the only weapon she has" then she's only using it to try and gain freedom.

If you see this as "getting worked up" simply because I continue to disagree with the idea that a woman can be manipulative and still, after being cornered, think that sex is her only out and still see that as "consent under duress" then you'll have to continue to be amused.

Well I'm glad that's something we can agree on.  I do like being amused.  ;D

Ok, I'll stop being a bastard now.  Was fun playing with you.  No hard fealings. :D

I am indeed a female. Considering the other thread, this is... awkward.... *ahem*

So, I'm gonna go watch some TV.
