Intolerant of something that doesn't exist? Thats a new one.

No, intolerant of someone else's belief of that thing that may or may not exist.

Hey, I have no problem with faith, as long as its personal and doesnt interfere with anyone else.

Then why the sarcastic counterpoint?

Because most faiths, at least the Abrahamic ones, don't keep it to themeslves, at least the ones who think us non-believers are damned.

True enough.

The tenet of Abrahamic faiths (like any other) is to spread their teachings to the masses.  I won't bore you with the details concerning the allegory of faith as a life preserver thrown to a drowning man aka the non-believer, but there it is.

Of course witnessing and evangelism can more akin to spiritual muggings than they are philosophical engagements.  The great irony is that  (if you are so inclined to believe) God gave man free will, yet Christians do not allow man to exercise that free will and figure out on his own whether or not he believes in God.

The Christian mandate to "save souls" and belief in absolute good vs. absolute evil will always generate adversarial strife in such debate and Christians run the risk of alienating the very people they are trying to "rescue."

Christmas is the time when I get together with my relatives and pretend not to hate them.

The liquor cabinet is usually empty on Christmas morning.

Actually, you're being insulted for calling atheism a faith and thinking that evolution is some grand conspiracy by millions of biologists, geneticists, anthropologists, chemists, zoologists, etc., all working in concert to perpetuate a myth and decieve the masses.

I did not say that about evolution. Try reading the words I wrote.

It's tradition. I am an atheist but I would still like to get married. Not because I want to declare my vows in front of god but because I want to declare them in front of my family and friends. I still celebrate Christmas. But not for religious reasons.

No, you're right, you didn't - You said Evolution was based on Faith.  I merely extrapolated that type of inane uneducated thinking.

In ME1 we saw Ashley discussing the topic of religion. I am fine with that. And it's entertaining to see the various religions of the other races in the game. However, if a real-life religion and its members are starting to impose rules and regulations upon others then it crosses the limits of what I find is acceptible. If the game would force me to "celebrate X-mas" then that would be an example of what is not acceptible to me. I understand that religion plays a role in society, but members of religious orders have to accept that others like me are not willing to accept a belief system that does not make sense.

The existence of Christmas doesn't prove that Christianity is still widespread. Me and most of my friends are atheist, but I love Christmas. It's as much a public/commercial/family holiday as it is religious, and I expect the religious aspect of it will have diminished further by the time of Mass Effect.

All festivals and celebrations change in focus but remain in some form. What we now think of as a Christian holiday actually began as a pagan festival.

It is a bit of a rarity, but as Gil said, it does not prove that christianity is widespread. Christmas is pretty commercialized even today, who knows how commercialized it will be in 200 years. In advertising, the primary message of Christmas is not religious, but the theme of gift-giving, family, and good will. And Santa Claus.

A pagan festival where men got really drunk, gave gifts to each other, broke stuff, had gay sex, beat their wives, and generally acted completely insane. Isn't religion fun?

Christmas isn't a purely christian celebration, especially now that it's more of a consumer event than anything else.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ for me.

Christmas has nothing to do with Christianity, it was a pagan celebration that had something to do with the Solstice, and the Church just adopted it in their doctrine.

I think we can all agree on this, aside from the psychos who intentionally get her killed on the suicide mission.

Haha, yep. No matter how much of a hardon morons like O'reilly get over it, Christmas has been officially made into a secular holiday.

It's the time of gift-giving, not of Christian reverence.
