Intolerant of something that doesn't exist? Thats a new one.
No, intolerant of someone else's belief of that thing that may or may not exist.Big_Stupid_Jelly wrote...
Hey, I have no problem with faith, as long as its personal and doesnt interfere with anyone else.
Then why the sarcastic counterpoint?
Because most faiths, at least the Abrahamic ones, don't keep it to themeslves, at least the ones who think us non-believers are damned.
True enough.
The tenet of Abrahamic faiths (like any other) is to spread their teachings to the masses. I won't bore you with the details concerning the allegory of faith as a life preserver thrown to a drowning man aka the non-believer, but there it is.
Of course witnessing and evangelism can more akin to spiritual muggings than they are philosophical engagements. The great irony is that (if you are so inclined to believe) God gave man free will, yet Christians do not allow man to exercise that free will and figure out on his own whether or not he believes in God.
The Christian mandate to "save souls" and belief in absolute good vs. absolute evil will always generate adversarial strife in such debate and Christians run the risk of alienating the very people they are trying to "rescue."
