Wait, shouldn't Miranda hate Cerberus after what happened to her?

I was thinking about this lastnight during the first cutscene...Miranda hates that she was made into this perfect being through experiments and conditioning, but isn't that exactly what Cerburus wants for the rest of humanity?  To turn them into all powerful rulers of the universe?

I mean they clearly ran facilities like the one Jack was on to make them super biotics, even if the facility had gone rogue, and then there's all the stuff they did in the first game with the experiments and thresher maw tests.  Isn't this type of thing what Miranda hates about herself and her father?

Isn't the illusive man kinda just like her father?

I don't get it...she is a robot. Posted Image

Miranda's issues with her father come from the fact that he was so controlling of every aspect of her life and denied her the opportunity to be anything close to a normal person. To her, Cerberus is a guard-dog organization that exist to protect humanity, and rationalizes everything away that doesn't agree with her perspective because they helped protect her from her father when she ran away.

If you question her on the experiments you can put an end to in ME1, she comes up with the rationalization that they were to be expendable shock troops only, which, IMO, is just a B.S. excuse she tells herself. The fact that she deludes herself in such a manner is part of what makes her a well written character. I've definitely seen real people do the same things, myself included.

I don't think Miranda hates what she is as much as she hates WHY she is. Her father didn't spend all of that money in order to give her a better life, he did it for his OWN selfish reasons. He treated her more like an object than as a person, so she ran. To be fair this isn't much different than how TIM treats her (but then again he treats everyone like that), but TIM actually respects her and enables her to use her abilities towards a cause of her choosing.

I never got a chance to question Miranda about the events in ME1...is that a renegade option or something?

thanks for the replies, interesting in terms of her father. Which I don't understand either. Why was he doing it? Was she is slave or something, I mean why not experiment on himself? Why's it so important to have a perfect daughter???

A lot of people think that her father is the Shadow Broker. If you talk to her, she tells you her father made her from his DNA and selected parts of other women to be his legacy. He wants a genetic "dynasty" which is why he makes Orianna after Miranda runs away. She was kinda like a slave in that he most likely controlled all aspects of her life. She says, during her loyalty mission, her father gave her anything she wanted but always had a long term plan for doing it

you have to remember the way that cerberus is setup they are seperate cells that report directly to the illusive man

so miranda and all the other cells are told by the illusive man what was the point of the other cells activitys are

so he can make all of it up just to keep them from seeing the real darker part of Cerberus
