I have had Return to Ostagar since it was officially released.  I purchased it, downloaded and installed it as per normal procedures.  However as of yesterday evening, I cannot load any game save that is associated with RtO.  In my content tabs it shows as unauthorized in the installed tab.  It shows up in the available tab as available content (I don't want to pay for it again).  And it also shows up in the downloading tab as 0% complete and the Blood Dragon armor is showing there as well (although it shows as installed and authorized).

I've done nothing to have caused this to happen.  I do have the most recent patch installed (verified by the configuration utility).  I have made sure that my CD key shows as installed in the registry, I have cleared the download cache and also deleted the manifest.xml file.  I've tried logging in and out, playing logged out, restarting the DAOrigins service.  Nothing gets this to working.  It's as if my RtO was suddenly "unauthorized" by the servers.

At this point my game-play has effectively been halted.  I cannot play anything that had RtO associated with it.  Starting to get really PO'd!  Does anyone from Bioware check these forums regularly?  There are tons of posts about sudden problems with RtO and I haven't seen a response from Bioware.

Things like this re-afirm my detest for EA, and make me believe that BioWare is following them down the tubes.

Update: I downloaded the file from from the DLC Troubleshooting links, and manually reinstalled the DLC. The only change is that it now no longer shows up as "available" content. Remains in the downloading tab, and also shows as unauthorized.

I'm usually a very calm, even tempered fellow, however I'm having to restrain myself from using fowl language in the interests of keeping this thread from being deleted. Using the "official" technical support isn't really an option as when I have tried in the past to use it, either A, I get no response or B, the response is not applicable to the reported problem or C, it is weeks or months later.

Their server is borked atm. I chatted with a CS rep on the support site.

Would a borked server cause it to suddenly show as unauthorized? (This occurred last night sometime in the evening Eastern. I was playing until around 5:30 pm-ish, and stopped and tried again around 9:30 pm-ish).

However, an announcement would be nice to alert all the people that are having issues.

Did you call CS?

I was playing during the times you tried and my RTO content was, and is, still available.

The server is currently not available to authorize DLC.

There has finaly been a post from Bioware on the topic.

I'm not sure how that would cause my problem as my DLC was previously installed and unauthorized, and now manifests this problem.

I finally talked to a rep using their chat. I got the canned "servers are down" response. When I questioned how this could cause something that was already installed, previously authorized and I have played several times I got a snarky response, then a request for my account info and the code for the DLC. After a wait of several minutes I got a link to a FAQ answer about restarting the daoupdater service (which I have done) but when I clicked on the link from the chat box, it caused my ENTIRE computer to lock up and I had to do a hard reboot.

I'm very dissatisfied with this DLC crap. I don't understand how a server being down can cause something that I purchased a month ago to suddenly become "invalid" and completely prevent me from playing my game.

It's ridiculous, I can't even load my saves with Return to Ostagar content. I get a popup that says "Return to Ostagar" and nothing else. Very descriptive, no?

However, I find if I go to the Downloadable Content window and look at my installed content, I can then log out and log in 3 times, and RTO will be authorized. I say this debacle adds a whole new level of strategy to the game, heh.

Had DA:O for a while, just decided to get the RtO dlc, seeing as how I already had the rest of the stuff from the Digital Deluxe edition, all the other dlc I have installed is fine, but RtO wouldn't download. So I manually installed it but even though I bought it it won't authorise. I keep having problems with Bioware dlc, first off my DD dlc wouldn't work, then my ME2 Collectors Edition wouldn't work and now this. Not happy, like I love the games, but the dlc is annoying =/

Hmm, seems to be working properly now xD Like I always enjoy playing the DLC but I always seem to spend as long making it all work as I do actually playing it =/

I just got back in and see on the main thread that they have resolved the issue per Bioware, however, my RtO (Purchased and installed on January 29th) is still showing as unauthorized and that RtO is available to purchase. What the heck have they done that is "unauthorizing" legitimately purchased DLC?

Now that the server problems have been resolved, exit the game. Restart the Dragon Age Content Update Service, then restart the game and see if that fixes things. To restart the service:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select RESTART (Or START if its not started.)

You're also at a point where you might check out the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ to see if there's something there that helps.

I've got it fixed now, thanks. I'm just still steaming that they were even able to do it in the first place.

Annoying, I left off buying it because I wasn't sure I wanted it, but I went to the bit where the whole thing starts and got told I needed the dlc to do the quest so I decided I might as well. Enjoyed it too, love the armour you get xD Just annoyed it took me ages to get it working, or rather, I had to go play something else while I waited for BioWare to fix it. Still, not complaining too much, it was a minor irritation really, nothing more.
