RtO now reads as unauthorized.

I can RE-PURCHASE IT under available content for 400 points.

Naturally all of the items I picked up in that quest are gone!! I guess I'll have to start over (once I get RtO working again) to get those items back. Is this nonsense going to happen everytime there is a server problem???

This is BS BioWare. Tell me, is there somewhere on this site where I can see which DLC I have purchased?

Ok, it seems to be working now but I still lost all the items that I gained in that quest. Can I go back and do the quest again?

Here is what I did:

- I moved (not copied) the dao_prc_cp_1 folder to the desktop (it was in the Add Ins folder).
- Started the game and confirmed that the content was not listed
- Exited the game and put the folder back
- Started the game again

For now, the DLC is working again though I can't express my dissatisfaction enough. What is the point of investing time in a game when this could happen at any time costing you in game items or even preventing your save from loading at all?

If I had known the DLC was dependant on an active internet connection I would not have bought it.

ETA: No, I cannot do the quest again because the Bann Loren area is not there. I guess if I want to enjoy this DLC I will have to start a new game and hope this doesn't happen again!

Mhh, atleast you guy's can download something, i bought the pre-order thing from Steam, and never had any problems, but atm it's claiming i don't have the DLC's, actually, it's claiming that there AINT any DLC's to be downloaded at all!
And i got them all, if not counting in the Ostagar thingy. Anyway, has this happened to anyone else?
No tab, dowloading, etc, shows anything.

help ? :/

Edit: When i try to redeem my code again, it just says "code already redeemed"

I hope these codes ain't like, one per use or something...

Everything else seems to work fine, expect the fact that my Downloadable content's are empty.

Some more Edit:  I have the collector's edition, but i just changed my computer to a new one and DLed Dragon Age's to the new computer.
Might that affect it, or something? Eventhough i do have the 2 CD -keys on my steam account.

I was able to download all my DLC, but it won't install, is that related to server issues too? I changed my email-adress recently, that's why I'm asking, wonder if it is related to that...?

Edit: Reinstalling and installing the DLC prior to Patch 1.02 solved the problem for me. Or they finally fixed their servers .

Meanwhile, those who pirated the DLC (I am assuming there are some people who did) are likely not experiencing any troubles.

Way to go BioWare! You pointed your gun at the wrong crowd, we are the PAYING CUSTOMERS!

FYI -
I have followed the instructions to remove the dodgy download by taking the offers file out of the documents directory, however because I am in IT I pasted and renamed the file, after having restarted the PC I went into the game and sure enough no more dodgy download, AND the RTO, Stone Priz etc were in the downloaded list and authorised. BUT:
When I went into the game neither quest location was on the map, although Shale who I already have was there and functioning.
I closed the game down, renamed the file and copied it back, restarted the game and no more dodgy download and now the 2 locations that were previously missing are listed on the map. I have not (re)visited them however so I can't say if they are actually functional but there you go...
Also, this thread is very useful too:
http://social.biowar...58/index/759141
UPDATE:
FYI - the initial instructions given in the ElKnight post are *slightly* inaccurate.
If you delete the file and you have got - for example - RTO and Shale downloaded, you may find that when you go back into the game, although the "stuck" download has gone, some other curious things have occured as well, for example although the RTO and Shale quests are shown as downloaded and authorised, their locations are no longer on the map, although Shale is still in the game.
What I would suggest instead is - cut and paste the file to another location, then clear the download cache, then restart the game. The above effects may well be observed. Quit the game, then cut and paste the file back into the DA directory and then restart the game.
You should find that everything has gone back to what passes for normal, at least that is my experience so far...

Hello all,

We are aware of issues that customers are currently having downloading and registering Origins and DLC. The team is currently investigating this issue and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience. We'll keep you updated with status!

UPDATE: The root cause behind this issue has been identified and resolved. If you are still having a problem purchasing or downloading DLC, this this: Open up the folder My Documents\\\\bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings and delete the offers.xml file.

If you have downloads that are stuck, run the configuration utility found in the Dragon Age launcher and click the "Repair" button on the left. Next, click the "Clear download cache" button.

Hi,
Please note that this does NOT appear to work for the "stuck" offer download that many ppl have...
And it would be a good idea to cut and paste/rename rather than delete the offers file, or you may have a problem if you need to put it back again!

Hooray.

I think to myself - I'll continue playing Dragon Age. I log in. All the DLC is now apparently unauthorised and blocking me from continuing playing.

I, along with everyone else in this thread, has paid for this software or we simply wouldn't see the problem.

I, along with everyone else in this thread, is being denied use of this software due to the DRM policy.

Why is it considered acceptable to release software which has a bug which means that once a month due to factors outside of your customer base's control it is no longer usable?

Calling EA and complaining won't help anything.

Nothing in life runs perfect all the time - that includes computer games. If you are going to return everything in life that causes you delays then you better ask for a "blanket" refund on "life" while you're at it.

EA need to think very carefully about whether they commit any further resources to the PC market, if this is the way they're going to go about it.

Your second paragraph misses the point. The underlying architecture that EA/Bioware has put in place has a critical flaw from their customer's point of view - it introduces a dependence on a service provided by EA/Bioware (the authorisation server) which simply doesn't meet the availability standards that we've all come to expect from gaming software (ie. we turn our PCs on, and the games work). The outages are a direct consequence of the product's design - and it was not sold on that basis.

If all your DLC is showing up as unauthorized, check that your Dragon Age Origins Content Updater service is running.  Exit the game, manually start/restart the service, and then restart the game and see if that fixes your problem.  To start it:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START (or RESTART)

thank you.

Once again a player helps me solve my Dragon Age DLC issues and not bioware or EA. Deleting the offers.xml file did not help one bit, but doing this made me realize where the problem was. Recently I had moved my steam installation (using steam's instructions) to another hard drive but this for some reason didn't update the path of the content updater service, so I had to manually go into the registery as described here: www.gringod.com/2006/11/14/service-path-to-executable/ and change the path of the service executable.

Once the service was running again all my DLC was re-authorized and I could actually download RTO.

Sorry to burst your bubble but i'm a paying customer and it is in my right.  Plus who said I was complaining? If I go to the store and get a broken item.. am I going to keep it? No way. I let tons of things fly over my shoulder but not when it comes to my money. tyvm

The major problem I have with this issue is that this isn't an online/mmo type game.  Since I purchased and installed the game and all the DLC content (both the free stuff and the stuff I have purchased), I should be able to load the game and play any of it at will whenever I wish, barring problems with my own computer.  Since this isn't an online/mmo type game, EA/Bioware shouldn't be able to do anything to files resident on my computer to prevent me from playing legitimately purchased content, ever, at any time.  Game developers are becoming increasingly too invasive with their software.  In this case, since I did nothing, at all, to cause Return to Ostagar to become "unauthorized" I am fully justified in being extremely angry at EA/Bioware for causing the issue.  It's pretty much the same thing as one of their employees walking into my house and deleting random files on my computer that prevents me from freely using legitimately purchased software.

I am henceforth playing the game logged out of their servers, removing the opportunity for them to screw up my game again.  However, I am certain that I will have to logg back in periodically for their servers to "validate" my content.  At least since I will no longer automatically log in, it minimizes the opportunity for them to screw things up on my computer again.  My time is just as valuable as theirs, and they have prevented me from playing this game for a day and a half, as well as performing a number of "fixes" to try to restore function of the game.  None of which should have been necessary at all.  None of our complaining will make any difference at all.  Were this situation make it to the media, it may make a difference.  I am unsure how my DLC was "unauthorized" however it smacks of the type of thing they makers of Assassin's Creed II is doing to prevent piracy by requiring players to be logged in to play the game at all.  It's invasive and unacceptable.

Very good points. You have to expect this with a dynamic ever changing MMORPG game. Which this is not. kudos

Same problem as people above, DLCs showing as unauthorized.
Guess I will try deleting everything manually, clearing the data cache and redwnld everything, adding to the chaos :).
Makes me think, thanks to whoever at Bioware decided NOT to include this drm fungus in ME2 :).

edit:
Ok so apparently I can't redownload anything, brilliant :).

edit2:
Ok solved it, apparently the service was set to manual and not started for some reason...
Shouldn't the game at least give a warning if that's the case?

All of the DLC I have purchased/registered is now listed as "Unauthorized." I've tried the steps in this thread and other threads and nothing works.

When I got to my profile tab, they aren't even registered anymore when I know they were at one point. I do not want to have to re-purchase Warden's Keep. Any suggestions?

Using Windows 7, 32-bit. DA:O 1.02. No problems at all until I launched this afternoon. Haven't played in over a month.

EDIT: Cannot re-register DLC either.

Do you mean they no longer show up on your http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php page?  Are you logged into the same account you redeemed your content with originally?  If so, I think that is a problem only EA support can resolve.

Yeah, it's the account I registered with it originally.

I suppose I'll contact EA Support then. Le-sigh.

EDIT: Uninstalling/Re-installing seems to have fixed it. Somwhat. Have to redownload it all.
