"Authorized properly" means that that you have logged in at least once successfully with the DLC installed, and had it authorized, and that fact has been saved correctly on your machine. Sometimes that authorization state doesn't appear to get saved correctly, so its good to verify that everything is working correctly when you're logged out. (Rather then waiting to try it when the server is completely toast.)

The game doesn't always appear to handle it very well if you're logged in and the server goes away while you're playing. That's why if the server response is spotty, and causing you problems its best to actively log out and just play that way, and see if that helps things.

Yeah well, many of us have logged in with the DLC and we still had problems a few days ago with uauthorized DLC. Hell, we had to be online to download the DLC in the first place, most people wouldn't log out just to start the game.

Anyway, this supposedly DRM-Free (just a CD check eh?) game is becoming a major DRM headache and I am seriously considering not buying the XP.

I agree that logging out is a short-term workaround to an ongoing problem. That doesn't mean that Bioware doesn't still have lots of issues to fix on their end. Its just a way to avoid some of the issues until the ultimate fix.

Yea, they need to look into those long loading times and fix a few screwed up quests but I do think that this DRM nonsense should come first since loading times and quests don't matter to those who can't even play due to what really amounts to online activation and monitoring.

Anyway, the next time EA announces a cd-check only DRM scheme, should we believe them?

Hello, it seems I can't register DA online, so I can't access the toolset.

When I enter my key in the online form, I am just send back to my profile, with no error message, and I have still no game registered in my account. I thought it would just need time to update, but it has been a couple days now, I tried several times and no improvement.

I have the same problem as khoffe and Hadscho. The DLC shows up in my online profile, but not in the DLC menu within the game.

I have a completely different problem, after purchasing points then redeeming and then downloading, (without any problems btw) I downloaded warden's keep and return to ostagar, and although wardens keep works great, (am currently playing the warden keep quest) the return to ostagar download requires the version 1.02 wihich i currently have, in the installed content pane it says the return to ostagar download says its disabled and that it has missing requirements, although i have the patch of version 1.02 to show i have patched correctly?......

anybody else have this problem?

The DRM really seems to be giving people a variety of problems. I wonder if BioWare still thinks the DRM is worth the headache.

Double check the game version to make sure the patch was installed correctly.  From the game launcher click on Configure, then in the Configuration Utility go to Game and make sure that the verison number next to DAOrigins.exe is 1.02.  If its not, redownload the patch from http://social.biowar...page/da-patches and reinstall it.

So I downloaded Wardens Keep and all is ok.  However I downloaded Return to Ostagar and it's disabled, suggesting I need a newer version of the Origins game and should select "updater" for the PC version

I don't know where updater is.  Can someone walk me through that?  I bought the points, spent it but no add on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to http://social.biowar...page/da-patches.  Download and run the 1.02 patch executable, which should then update your game to 1.02, which is required for Return to Ostagar.

Need more details on what is or is not happening.  As a first step see the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ which has solutions to common problems getting DLC to download and install.

My previously downloaded content is now saying that it's "unauthorized". Also, I purchased points to download "return to ostagar". The points disappeard but the download didn't appear. I'll try the download again but I sure would like to be able to play my game again. When I try to "resume" I get an error saying that the owner of the premium content has to log in. Seems to work when I'm not logged in though.

Thanks for the info Kepha, I found the problem. I was using a "game booster" that stops unnecessary services. Apparently some of those services were necessary. I don't have enough time to play as it is, I certainly don't have time to run down problems. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi guys. I have bought the Dragon age awakening expansion pack from the steam service. And I'm wonderring why it doesn't appear under my games tab. Or is it like the rest of the dlc wich will appear inside from the game menu?
Any others experiencing the same?
-I'm sorry if this is not the right category for my post.

What a nightmare this game has turned out to be!!! :crying:

All was well til I added a 2nd HD & re-installed via Steam, now I can't even play my saved games cus the DLC is "Unauthorized":wizard: which is really funny cus I'm still logged in as the same online person & this is my char wearing the DLC that I'm not authorized to use! lol social.bioware.com/da_game_screenshots/629000/628020/Sporin_378757.jpg

I've tried all Kepha's posts, tried the DLC help (inc. all the CMD commands) & nothing... naadaa... zip! Guess I just need to start from scratch & not use the DLC. (Yes, I feel robbed!).

If you have bought the game via the "STEAM
NETWORK, and you have encountered these problems.
Go find your game folder, in my case "computer / Games (D) /
Steam Games / Steammaps / Common / Dragon Age Origins / bin_ship" .

And
run the "daupdater" as administrator, if using Vista. And don't bother
if the updater says the same over and over again. After it has finished
updating, you simply close it and run the game from the same folder, or
from your Steam games tab.

-THIS WORKS FOR ME-

Thx for quick reply :) Sadly it didn't work... it brings up the content updater box which is empty, the only thing I can see is the log which reads as...

05/03/2010 12:18 - D:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\daupdater.exe,

05/03/2010 12:18 - Found Dragon Age version 1.2

05/03/2010 12:18 - Localization file ..\\data\\DAUpdater.xml loaded.

05/03/2010 12:18 - Language set to: en

Thx anyway, I've all but given up. :)
