DLC and Registration Issues: February 26, 2010

Um.. I'm going to ASSUME this is something because of an automatic update recently that I didn't pay attention to.
However, when it says I can't play a game that I could before.... somethings messed up.
I admit, that it was my roomate who bought it for me. Due to me having built his PC for him. So I have to input his email as the re-registration.. so. I'm assuming 'issues' on that are going to his email? Cause EA store is stupid.. digital download had to use same email as the one used to purchase.. (he bought the boxed edition at the same time for himself)
Would there be anyway to get the entire account properly transfered to my email account so I can get more specific results on my game TO me.. incase future incidents happen.. and/or have to reinstall.. in the future when we aren't roomates?
It's a great game.. but.. this is becoming a hassle...

I've long ago moved everything back to the C: Drive, and the last time I played, all my DLC was working fine.
I've decided to finish of the available DLC ahead of the new Awakenings expansion, so bought some BioWare points. Saw the patch was available, so have updated to 1.3 successfully.
Warden's Keep allowed me to purchase it with points, download, install, and play - but for some odd reason I cannot get ROT to show anywhere. It's simply not available to purchase, and I can't figure out why.
I've tried deleting the offers file, but it had no effect

The DRM really seems to be giving people a variety of problems. I wonder if BioWare still thinks the DRM is worth the headache.
its most likely EAs choice. it just means hackers will need to spend a day longer hacking it, while paying costumers deal with the headache.
Im never buying any DRM game ever if it has EA attached to it in anyway, thier DRM seems to be tacked on at the last minute, and has issues all the time.
EA is always trying to squeeze to much out of the consumer, whether its Battlefield 2142, with adware, and they didnt tell you til you opened the box, which made it non refundable, I am just sick of EAs tricks, and this DRM is just another example, they care nothing about paying customers.
If EA had any common sense, they would realize hackers are just more motivated to crack it. and they will. instead of making something like steam or battlenet, which encourages you with nice perks, for buying the game like incentives, EA has a cold attitude, they simply could care less, they just want thier quarterly sales numbers.

Hello all,
We are aware of issues that customers are currently having downloading and registering Origins and DLC. The team is currently investigating this issue and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience. We'll keep you updated with status!
UPDATE: The root cause behind this issue has been identified and resolved. If you are still having a problem purchasing or downloading DLC, this this: Open up the folder My Documents\\\\bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings and delete the offers.xml file.
If you have downloads that are stuck, run the configuration utility found in the Dragon Age launcher and click the "Repair" button on the left. Next, click the "Clear download cache" button.
hows this going to effect the expansion? who in thier right mind will buy the expansion, until this issue is fixed?

I had the same problem so attempted to manually download and install the content using the v. helpful unofficial thread. However, I didn't finish properly (i.e. using the manual download to install, I just deleted the partially installed parts under Program Data\\All Users) and I found after an hour or so of play, my content started (and finished) downloading.
This may help you, and even if it doesn't, its easily reversible by either completing the procedure or restoring the deleted files.

After getting "Dragon Age origins Deluxe edition" from Steam I had no download able content showing in the Download content of the game "It showed nothing" I then downloaded and installed the DAZIP files associated with the download content I purchased. I was then able to see the content but when I tried to download it I was unable to as the redeem it had already been used. I have tried everything in http://social.biowar...y-81613-1.html. Have been trying to get this fixed for over 3 weeks Steam said "Not our problem" Bioware's response was to copy and paste there help files to me one at a time. After following all there instructions last answer reinstall the game. Did that, still same problem. I am guessing the help desk guy doesn't really exist and the responses I have been getting are computer generated. What a pain in the ..... will never buy from steam again and Bioware need to get some real people into help rather than copy and paste the help files!
Hope everyone is enjoying the game would like to play it one day!!!!!!

I've just reinstalled DA:O, I was planning on getting back into it prior to awakening, I start the game and log into my account, and have all the DLC (barring ostagar) downloaded - however when I look at downloaded content it lists stone warden, collector's edition, blood dragon armour etc. as unauthorised, even though under my 'redeemed promotions' in my profile they are quite clearly there. Furthermore I am completely unable to buy return to ostagar - after adding 400 bioware points to my account the DLC does not appear as available.
Make sure the Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is running. See Section 5 of the DLC In-Game Errors FAQ for more information.

Not cool, EA.
And yeah, it's because I had disabled the DA Content Updater. So yeah, it's an easy fix: re-enable it and reboot. But that also means that I have a service starting every time I boot my computer, just so I can play a game? Was there really no easier way to do it, EA? Really?

Got DA:O when it first came out, played through it now problem, but haven't really played it since I finished it back in November or December. Today I picked up Awakening, installed it, registered it, and set about importing my character. Sadly, he had no clothes aside from his undies. I figured, maybe the Blood Dragon Armor doesn't import into Awakening. No big deal, I though. I'll reload my last save and switch to some different Armor. Well, that didn't happen. Every time I tried to reload, I got a message about how someone who owned The Stone Prisoner needed to log in. Funny, because I was logged in, and I'm the one who owns it. So I log out and log back in. No dice. So I check my DLC list, and there's all my DLC... except the Stone Prisoner is labeled "unauthorized."
Not cool, EA.
Same for me. The service is marked as not started but when I try to start it up, it just closes right away windows tells me.

Does it let you load the save if you're logged out? Because that might be the simplest short-term answer.
Otherwise, is the Stone Prisoner still listed on your http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php page? Is so, EA still has it associated with your account, there's just a technical problem on your computer that needs to be fixed. (If its not there you'll have to contact EA support, they're the only ones that can fix DLC account association problems.)
Try starting the Dragon Age Origins Content Updater service before you start the game:
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START
If it doesn't start see Section 5 of the DLC In-Game Errors FAQ.
If the service is starting fine, and the problem persists. Make sure your My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\profile.dap file is writable, as that is where the authorizations are stored. You may want to regenerate it by renaming the old one to a different name and force the game to create a new one by logging in to your account again.

Ahh, I see you figuerd it out while I was typing. The way the service works is that it is started when you start the game and stopped when you exit. You can set it to start on reboot if you want, but having it on manual should work just as well. (Assuming its starting properly on game launch, which Patch 1.03 should mostly fix.)

Run the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta and see if that fixes the service.

I read through several of the threads that gave advice, but none of it is helping. I tried removing it, but even if I do I'm given the option to download AND buy the shale DLC because the blasted thing just isn't working correct. I've managed to get my other DLC content up and running, but this one darn thing refuses to work correctly.

Thanks for the quick response - this seems to have gotten it working - as the FAQ said the update service was linked to the old install directory. Although on a stranger note it only worked when I loaded my save game - when I started the game I had the same unauthorised problems - however when I loaded me save and entered the game everything authorised and I was notified that Return to Ostagar was ready to download.
Thanks for the help
