I don't get it, why does rewritting the Heretics makes your lose points?

Besides why are we making all these assumptions, knowing Bioware, they might do something completly different then we now think.

At this point I'm not really confident that BioWare will create an ending where you loose or something else surprising happens.

It might be interesting if there was an ending where some of the reapers were still around but not desiring genocide. Perhaps some reapers decide that it is better/easier if races "ascend" to their level of existence voluntarily, etc. I can imagine a race advancing to a point where they might entertain the idea of another form of existence like with the reapers.

An ending where you loose completely and the epilogue shows some alien race 50,000 years later discovering a message from Shepard about the reapers would be interesting too.

You guys dig too deep into this. ME3 is a semi stand alone title, yet linked into a series.

If I bought ME3 and didnt own ME1 or ME2, im damn sure ill still be able to win the game no problem.

The ONLY difference I see will be exactly like ME2, i will lack a serious amount of cameos. The most impact it will have, in my view, is hearing some cut scene tell me 200million humans died instead of 40million. A couple of races will have refused to help, and they will either be also wiped out badly or just up to the usual stuff.

The only serious 'end of trilogy' outcomes we'll get will involve Emily Wong, Conrad Verner, The crimelord chick on Omega, Novaria Spec Agent Chick and a couple more.

If anyone here is expecting some serious story altering outcome for the 'keep the base' issue your going to be VERY dissapointed.

ME1 ended with 'save the councle' and 'who to represent humanity' as BIG choices, in ME2, it impacted the flow of the plot by about 1%, which I didnt mind personaly, but I dont et why so many people expect ME2's big choices to have some groundbreaking impact on the events.

Except that this is the big dance. The finale.

Things need to matter or they may be for nothing.

Using several choices for instance:

Saving the Council vs. Letting Them Die
- If you save the Council, humanity has earned some serious respect
- Therefore, when trying to save Earth, the alien races are more then willing to help out against the Reaper invasion
- If you let the Council die, the aliens might decide to tell you to **** off, or getting their help will be more involved and challenging.

Quarian vs. Geth
- If Quarians and Geth go to war, you'll lose two potential allies
- If they make nice, you might gain two potential allies

Rachni
- Setting them free means you might have a backup force when the tide turns

Those choices NEED to matter.

All of your examples will simply result in me being informed more of humanity died that could have been saved. Nothing more

Also, whos to say I wont simply be able to Charm or intimidate those situations in ME3, if im a super paragon, Im sure I will be able to 'convince' the alien races to help my cause, as the default ME2 canon is a human majority councle.

Again, I bet Shepard will arrive at some 'flashpoint' in relations between the Quarians and the Geth, and Ill simply be able to say either
'guys cmon, blah blah blah blah blah peace and love blah blah homeworld blah  help me fight super reapers'
or
'screw you guys, i have a galaxy to save' (walks off as huge battle kicks off between Geth/Quarians'
The result of either will be somthing like
'Grats you have bought enough time for us to evacuate China and America'
or
'Boo hoo the evacuation of China and America failed so many dead /cry'

So, in responce, nope i dont think it being the 'Final' will make ME3 any more impacted by decisions than ME2 was by ME1

I think one of the stupidest "this doesnt matter" moments in ME2 is the fact that if u are a sole survivor and do the sidequest in ME1 that basically reveals that cerberus was behind the massacre of ur squad in Akuze, there is absolutely no dialogue at all in the game to talk or argue with illusive man about this event. It's like Shepard just forgot it.

Also no comments about the rachni experiments or Admiral Kohoku's death.
