***Some Merchants are only avaiable with certain choices.

Tips/Suggestions:

1. Weapon Coatings:  If you plan to constantly use a specific dmg increaser like Fire, it may be better to just use a rune instead.  Then you can focus on Weapon Coatings that you only use occasionally.  This way you can save money in the long run.  Of course if you wanted to stack a certain dmg type against a boss you could do that as well.

Example:  In the Fade fighting the Fire based enemies, you could have a Frost rune and stack it with Freezing Coating to have highly increased dmg against the enemies weakness.

2. Bombs:  They have a very limited range so you have to get fairly close to even use them.  Tanks who will get close inside the action could benefit from them as an initial attack.  They also seem to be the most effective against groups of archers or mages.  Higher levels of Stealth can also be very helpful keeping you hidden while you attack.

3. Most of the Poisons do Nature damage so be careful against nature resistant or immune enemies like spiders,
undead, & skeletons.  Most poison are better to choose for how they stun or reduce speed.

4. Many of the Poisons seem to have little benefit in their concentrated forms.  Most only add a 5% chance and 1 second to duration.  Imo this does not seem to justify the additional cost to make and use.  Plus you don't have to buy the recipes which can save money.

5. Poison Making Level:  For any warrior or Rogue it is good to have at least 1 point so they can use any poison, coating, or bombs.  Only 1 character is needed to make them so Leliana and Zevran are good choices sense they start off with levels of Poison Making already.

6. Stacking several different poisons can be very effective.  It can boost Nature dmg as well as stunning or slowing chances.

Nice writeup. In future, if you have the inclination, perhaps include what components are required to craft and who, in particular, sells the various recipes.

As to the tips, I think you may be underestimating the efficacy of some of the tier 4 poisons. Concentrated demonic and quiet death are like adding two GM runes to each weapon. Momentum'd DW characters get a lot of mileage from these.

The bartender at the Spoiled Princess Inn (Lake Calenhad Docks) also sells unlimited flasks (I don't remember what he charges, though).

1. Any coatings that can be replaced by a rune seems to be a waste to invest in.
The only ones I'd suggest buying are Soulrot or Acidic Coatings sense you cannot replace them with a rune.

They're good if you don't want to keep changing runes/weapons.  Buying all the recipes might be a little too expensive, though--I generally just use ones that are found or dropped off of enemies.

2. Bombs are ok.  They have a very limited range so you have to get fairly close to even use them.
That is a major downfall imo.  They would be best used on a Tank who will get close inside the action.
They also seem to be the most effective against groups of archers or mages.

It's helpful to have Stealth 3 or 4 if you're going to toss bombs.  That way, you can get close to the enemy and toss them.  You won't even break stealth once they're thrown, so you can throw several in succession.

A couple of other points:

My personal favorite poisons are Concentrated Crow's Posion, Deathroot Extract (regular and concentrated), and Quiet Death.  The Concentrated Crow's Poison and Quiet Death will stack with each other and with one of the Deathroot poisons at a time.  They have respectable damage numbers, but are mostly useful for their stunning properties.

As for how many points to put into Poison-making, I actually wouldn't have the PC put any more than 1.  You can always have another member of your party take a higher level of Poison-making and just call them out of camp to craft poisons for you.  Zevran comes with a high level of the skill to begin with, and Leliana also starts out with 1 point in the skill.  I also give all my melee fighters 1 point so they can use coatings, if needed.

Yea, I was thinking about doing this, but I did the guide too late in my playthrough and didn't keep track of the information.  Although I may be able to go to early saves and get that info.

Thanks for suggestions and ideas.  I'll update the OP.  I don't wanna come off too negative for poison making.  I will probably re-write somethings with the added suggestions and make more neutral statements and give the benefits.

Most of the data should be on either wiki or gamebanshee so you shouldn't have to replay.

On grenades: You might point out that different grenade 'flavors' have separate cooldown timers, so it's possible to rapid fire a shock, freeze, fire combo for instance. They tend to fade in usefulness over time but are quite strong in the first part of the game.

Are cooldowns shared or are they per person?

The bombs are all still pretty effective all game.  That's what I did against the broodmother.  You can see the vid I made, very top of OP.  I just kept bombing the Broodmother to beat her and I would toss all 5 bombs one after teh other.  It was actually a very easy fight.

Can't help with that one...I've been running solos exclusively for quite awhile.
