Nah, the infection radius is 3 on VWB.  It can also infect up to 3 other targets.  I think that is where it gets crazy once you get a couple of other critters infected and start getting chain explosions!  The infection chance is 50%.

If you want massive DoT damage(without an actual AoE effect like death cloud, entropic death, etc):



Vulnerability Hex, Virulent Walking Bomb(30-35% spirit damage gear), Stinging Swarm(30-35% nature damage gear, can be switched out mid fight), Crushing Prison(30-35% spirit damage gear).

Curse of mortality is good to (especially on healing mobs), the dmg is not as good as VWB, but since the target can't heal or regenerate, it's good to add to the chain.

I use the glyph spell comb for mass paralyze, both bombs, then the top two lighting spells. My animate dead is use as bait, blood magic for when I run out of mana and for added damage/control. When working with the bombs always good to have group heal.



I work with two mages though, so add in ice, hexes, crushing prison, heals, spell shields.



So to answer the original question, use two mages and get both along with some other goodies.
