I have a friend who is a Christian and he says that his mom wno't let him play the Mass Effect games because they're anti-Christian.
When I asked him to elaborate he said that it's because the game states that the Protheans existed 50 thousand years ago but according to the Christian faith, the day of Genesis began about 6000 years ago.

This is of course false as you can just point out that if the universe really were 6000 years old we wouldn't be able to see objects in the sky that are millions of light years away since light takes time to travel but that is not the point nor is the point of this post to bash Christians.

My question for Christians is do you feel that this game makes claims which contradict your faith and you find offensive?  If not, how do you reconcile the claims this game makes against your faith?  Do you just say "ehh, it's just a game, who cares?"

That's not Christian, that's young earth creationist.

Anyone who takes the Old Testament seriously needs to be beaten around the head with it.

I'd venture to say if his mom still makes the decisions for him he is too young to play a M rated game.....

religion vs science is way bigger than a video game. generally people who think this way can't be convinced to think otherwise.

but lets be real, jesus was a reaper.

He's 16, I'm 18. We play M rated games like Gears of War, Unreal Tournament III, and Dragon Age. I don't see the big deal.

Don't be an ass. You can take it seriously without going by the word-by-word interpretation of it. Besides that "6000 year old" thing came from some official in Europe sometime around the 14th century I think, it is not in the Old Testament.

If your friend(or anyone else) is not capable of separate Fantasy & Reality. Nothing much you do/say can change their mind.

How can you believe that, when EA owns BioWare and it's quite clear that EA is the devil?

Video games should not dictate someone's spiritual/religious beliefs. I know what I believe and am happy to learn as I go on in the real world. So, no... I am not offended and I also do not care. It's just a game, not reality. :|

The Old Testament is nothing but hate filled propaganda.
To take it seriously is to take it's messages of hate, warmongering, racism and sexism seriously.
It is a collection of seriously messed up stories written by men with an agenda.

Tell your friends mom she is a goddamned moron, then beat her within an inch of her life with the Bible saying that if God wanted you to stop, he'd smite you where you stood.

You mean not all Christians believe the universe is 6000 years old?   I guess this is treading into dangerous territory.  I mean, you're going to have Chrsitians on both sides claiming one side doesn't accurately represent their faith.
I think Christians should unite though and agree that the universe isn't thousands of years old since that can actually be proven false.
