I mean I've played a majority of MMO's and none of them really immerse you in the world because the story is just a bunch of text and stupid character animations and the only thing you really end up caring about is gaining a level and getting some awesome l33t0r loot.

Its very, very hard to make an MMO story based because the entire idea of an MMO completely removes any possibility of a story.

That is why I don't see the Old Republic as fulfilling all my desires. Most likely it's just going to be like Guild Wars

They could pretty easily do co-op. It would just be like Gears or something in combat, and in walking/talking portions you could just have a "sidekick" wandering freely (perhaps to cover more ground as far as getting stuff from markets) whereas one character would be Shepard and would do the talking. Other characters could just be contextually based, like Cerberus soldiers or something that you've invented specifically for multiplayer, perhaps with the skills of your main character imported.

Bioware and EA need to see how well SWTOR will do. They aren't as heck going to develop two MMOs at the same time, that's just dumb.

i think if bioware makes a ME mmo, i hope they would revolutionize the mmo industry, the current mmos, back in the 90s, i read an strange add in the edmonton sun, asking for Game Masters to take courses in programming, and work as game masters,



I never saw any other add like it before, and hoped the online gaming would have real DMs or GMs, and others, running online computer rpgs, mmos look a little like the idea, so maybe it will improve in the future

No. Whilst I would like to see one at some point, after ME3 would be too soon.



1. You'd only have had the three main trilogy games without other games to flesh out more of the backstory and get people hooked in the universe

2. TOR looks like it's going to have a lot of mileage as an MMO. Hell, it's got over 550,000 accounts on the official website more than a year before it's due to be released. It will be huge, and BioWare probably doesn't want to compete with itself!

3. Explore other genres first. Strategy? Action-adventure? FPS?

On the other hand it would be cool to do missions with your friends.

Hmmm, I don't know. It would compete with TOR. Maybe 5 years from TOR launch if it is successful. I think BW will go for a different ME game with a non human centered story (like you could do a Shepard turian, salarian, asari, krogan, etc) non trilogy, like ME chronicles. But ME has the total MMORPG universe ready.

chances are it won't happen, sadly, i would love to see an ME MMO, but with TOR, its likely they won't want to compete with themselves, that is i'm sure the biggest and #1 issue against an ME MMO

just looking over the posts (today actually)  i read AphoticCosmos' post and i see his point, there ME3 is the first trilogy, in the ME Universe.

My hope now is that they make an ME with a choice of starting races (maybe the "lesser species"  i.e. volus, elcor, or batarian
