It's difficult to see the Rachni and Krogan working together though. Blood Pack Krogan and Vorcha are probably the best at getting into space, along with the Blue Suns.Vaenier wrote...
doesnt have to be 3 sided, but as i said, you need diversity in each army's troops, and there are only so many forces in the ME universe that can work.
Those 3 army types are very well balanced. cant think of a different type of army at the moment

Baneling - Whatever those annoying green things were in ME1
Hydra - Rachni Warrior

Roach - Vorcha
Infestor - Rachni Brood Guardian
Devouver - Rachni Frigate
Guardian - Krogan Battle Cruiser

Ya, I am really forcing it to fit... I am to lazy to beta test an entire new RTS scheme, so i am just slapping on names to a system i know works

Also leaving it on the superior platform for these types of games (aka pc) will be a betrayal considering the franchise started off on the 360.
But regardless I see it happening once the triology is finished, and it will be outsourced by a different developer like Halo Wars.

I can't believe I didn't comment on your post sooner, but those are some excellent ideas for each and every one of the races I listed.Skyblade012 wrote...
To really do this game justice, it would have to have entirely separate
land and space combat. No more StarCraft battles where five marines
take out a battlecruiser.

Also forgot the true Geth and the Quarians
Possible sides for Mass Effect: Shepard Commander
-Systems Alliance (Human)
-Citadel Fleet (Asari, Turian, Salarian)
-Terminus Systems (Batarian/mercs)
-Geth Heretics (Geth)
-Skyllian Verge (Blood Pack Krogan/Blue Suns)
-Migrant Fleet (Quarians/true Geth)
-Rachni Cluster (Rachni)
Reapers are like the Burning Legion of Mass Effect; we'll originally be promised to play them, but due to balance issues, they'll just be in the single-player campaign.
OK, I can buy that
Same here, but more like a Supreme Commander than a Starcraft!

Playable Faction:
- Cerberus: Humans, with Commander Shepard as Campaign hero and Support Skirmish Commando (Squad rounds [Fire, Ice, armor piercing, shredder, ect.]), Jacob as Defensive Commando (Squad barrier [Protect a small group from harm for a limited amount of time]) and Miranda as Offensive Commando (Group Slam [Cripple a group of enemies so they're easier to pick off by your units])
- The Citadel Alliance: Consisting of human soldiers, Turian snipers, Salarian Specialists and Asari biotics. Their Commando units are a Turian Offensive Soldier (Concussive Blast [Similar to group slam, but without the crippling effect, this is also effective against tanks]), a Salarian Defensive Commando (STG [units around this commando will become invisible untill they shoot.]) and a Asari biotic support commando (Singularity [Trap a group of enemies, making it easier for your units to pick them off.]).
- Normal and Heretic Geth (2 factions): Both Geth factions are very similar in buildings, units and Tanks. Geth are propably the hardest faction to beat since they have a good economy, self repairing units and good all-round capability, however, on the downside, ALL of their defenses recquire power (they can be quick to fall fool to energy bancrupty), also the Geth army doesn't excel in any area, they have no need for military regiment or chain of command (there are no promotion prospects for robotic troops) and the Normal geth only have one commando unit while the Heretic Geth doesn't even have one. The normal Geth commando will most likely be Legion, however Legion can be "upgraded" to take either an Offensive role (AI hacking [using this on a Tank immobilises it for a short period of time]), a Defensive role (Squad geth shield [Reshield a group of allies, only usable when their original shield has expired]) or a Supportive role (explosive attack drone [harras your enemy out off cover, if they dare attack it, it will explode.causing splash damage.]). The Heretic Geth don't have a commando unit to start with. However the player can choose to "Assume control" upgrading a simply Geth soldier into a powerfull commando, with both offensive, defensive and support capabilities. the only downside is that the camera is centered only to the "Assumed" unit and you can only order commands to your commando unit untill you "Release Control". Also the Heretic Geth can harvest fallen foes for husks.
- The Migrant Fleet: Possibly the most unique of all factions, because they don't allow base building. All their units come from a battle ship orbiting the planet. Because of this, they can drop units anywhere on the map (as long as the FoW doesn't hinder it,). They do have a small outpost which they use for resource gathering and you can upgrade with defensive turrets. The Quarian units are weak and few in numbers, but they're cheap to produce and are trained quickly, however, because of scares resources on the fleet, they're tanks are expensive. Quarians only have 2 commando's, because of this they both have 2 specializations. Tali'Zorah will be the Offensive/support Commando (AI hacking which immobilizes tanks for a short period of time and Chitikka that harrases the enemy out of cover) and Kal'Reeger Offensive/Defensive commando (His rocket launcher kills tanks in a matter of seconds either offensive [helping his troops push forward] or defensive [stopping a tank based base raid]).
- Clan Urdnot: Consisting of Krogan and Varren. These units are very tough and very powerfull in melee, however they're sluggish and can't aim straight. They have cheap units that are quickly produced, but because of the genophage their few in numbers. The commando's for this faction would actually have a rather passive skill, for example: Urdnot Wrex would be the defensive commando (because of his concern for his people, increasing the armor rating of his troops), Urdnot Grunt is the Offensive commando (because he killed a tresher maw and inspires fear in his enemy's, lowering their accuracy) and the shaman would be the support commando (encouraging his forces to greater feets of heroism, increasing the troops overall stats).
- The Unknown: An unknown threat in the galaxy that are under the command of the Reapers.
Non-Playable Factions: (only used for campaign or small skirmish harrasments.)
- The Blue suns: Consistant of Humans, Batarians and Turians.
- The eclipse : Consisting of Humans, Asari and Salarians.
- The Blood Pack: Consisting of Krogan and Vorcha.
*EDIT* for minor spelling errors.

It'd certainly explain how he posts so much.
Also, I vote for a Mass Effect Turn-Based Strategy thingy.
