Whatever Bioware is doing, I hope they don't alienate those of us who prefer the offline experience. Add a multi-player component, but don't make it compulsory to play online or with a partner.

And avoid online DRM... oh god please avoid that ****e.

Lets compare this to another good xbox exclusive shooter and then think that it had three good games and then a crappy RTS.

.

Halo Wars was fine, it was well built and played very well.

Halo Wars > Halo 3

YES!!! Oh, YES!!!!

RTS Mass Effect would be a dream come true for me. Especially if it was modelled after something like Total War, with multiple characters with unique or varied character traits.

Oh, I'm going to get drunk on anticipation now...

The comparing of games from different types is purely opinion.

True, but Tetris is still better than Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Quick question!

For a Mass Effect RTS, would you prefer:

Just Land Battles?

Just Space Battles?

Both, EaW style space wise but with Z Axis and Supreme Commander Epicness?

I have not played Empire at War, but I would not want a Mass Effect strategy game to be about collecting resources, I'd rather have it be a tactical strategy game or something like Dungeon Siege where you just send your units into the fray and watch the carnage unfold.

I wasn't too impressed with EndWar. It wasn't epic enough for me, with only 8 units on the field.

12 units, I would like endwar style but with more units, less textures(afterall endwar was overrendered which is what limited units)

play a demo or something, very
good when it comes to sci fi strategy based games. Hits a nice tune ,
instead of hoarding resources like Age of Empires or C&C games.

I
really recommend playing it, or getting a demo of sorts.

it depends the map, most maps are 12 units.

But
sure, from the beta I tested to the full product...they messed up alot
of it.

IN a way yeah. 1 mile square was way too small. And Infantry units seem to just be there....hate the engineer / riflemen distinction...takes too much space. Infantry in Urban environment is a tough son beach :P.

But anyways, getting off the idea, I want more to be Like EMpire at War, endwar would be more tactically inclined than strategy.

End War did'nt impress me either. What I think Bioware could do really well is the stratagy department. Sure collecting recourses is fun, but their previous games gives them the experience to pull off stratagies like SupCom but unique.

What Bioware should do is take the best from other games SupCom epicness and scale, EaW spacecombat, TotalWar Tatics, Empire Earth recourses (the first game) and ORB Z axis and space design to make a unique experience.

Probably be post-reapers and be a big struggle for who takes over.

So the citadel will probably be blown up in ME3 to destroy central politics.

You heard it here first.

Well, at least it's in my thread.
;)

I agree though, they'd set it up like that. Shepard will likely have the chance to die in ME3 in order to defeat the Reapers, and the RTS would consider that canon. The galaxy gets to enjoy destroying each other as the result of Shepard removing their 'salvation'.

Shephard wouldn't die. (s)He'd disappear out into the unknown reaches, searching for ways to prevent whatever makes the Reapers (or the build up of Dark Energy!) Or kill the remaining Reapers who languish still in darkspace because they're lazy buggers.

They should turn the ME series into a 2D side scrolling shooter (ie Gradius) with the Normandy doing missions like defending the Citadel, 1st attack on the Collector ship, and then attack on the Collector base.  Maybe throw in the Firewalker missions for kicks.  Then create a second part (still 2D scrolling shooter) for the foot missions (ie Contra).  That would be EPC!!!!!1111Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

....Main game wise...yes.

ME1 was awesome, with few faults, but still only needed polishing.

ME2...complete overhaul and distancing from the RPG brand. mostly action oriented than story

same with halo 2.

Now...if bioware, ever comes out with a command and conquer style of ME like halo wars.....then that will be sad sad day.

See, now that would define epic.

Oh good, there is another person out there who appreciates the glory of three dimensional combat and strategy!
