Added new video Level 30 NG+ Insanity Collector Platform Speed Run

The video was quite fun to make and is action packed.

Great vid!

So, casting pull, throw or whatever on the scion prevents him from doing his electroshock thingie... Didn't know that. Like a failed reload trick, when you interrupt the animation too early, nothing happens. You just charge the first time and that's it.

Thanks.

Perhaps a silly question but whats Insanity+, a little harder than normal Insanity and you get that by playing a new game with the same char again after the suicide mission? Probably answered my own question there. Furthermore, talent thingies: youre talking about 10 Champion etc, I also assume this is accuired by starting over with the same char after completing?

EDIT: /facepalm 10Champion is 4+3+2+1 pointwise... *sigh*, DUH.

Insanity+ is when you start a new game plus mode on Insanity, just like you guessed.

This probably is a silly question, but how did he manage to have both a shotgun and a sniper rifle in his inventory?

At the Collector Ship mission, you can select another type of weapon training.  Vanguards can choose assault rifle, sniper rifle, or they can focus on shotguns and take the Claymore.

For a Vanguard, what is the best squad skill builds for each character? It would be great if that was added to the guide.

This guide is quite old.  I don't know that the author of the original post is still active on these forums.  However, I don't see why we can't open this thread up to helpful guides for Vanguards' squadmates.  The following examples are how I would build (and have built) my squadmates for a Vanguard on Insanity.  I have their skills listed in order of importance.  So with Garrus, I'd master Area Overload before focusing on his passive, for example.  Additionally, I have left squadmates that I can't comment on blank.  For instance, aside from her loyalty mission, I never used Jack.

Garrus: Area Overload, Turian Renegade, Concussive Blast (Spec out of Armor Piercing Ammo.)
Grunt: Krogan Pureblood, Heavy Fortification, Concussive Blast
Jack:
Jacob: Squad Incendiary Ammo, Pull Field, Cerberus Specialist (Spec out of Barrier or out of his ammo power as you acquire your own.)
Kasumi: Deadly Shadow Strike, Master Infiltrator, Improved Flashbang
Legion:
Liara: 2/10 Singularity, Unstable Warp, 1/10 Stasis, Asari Controller
Miranda: Unstable Warp, Area Overload, Cerberus Leader, 1/10 Slam
Mordin: Incineration Blast, Salarian Genius, Neural Shockwave or Full Cryo Blast (Spec out of Neural Shock.)
Morinth:
Samara: Area Reave, Sapiens Justicar, Throw Field or some combination of Throw and Pull
Tali:
Thane: Unstable Warp, Throw Field, Drell Marksman
Zaeed: Squad Disruptor Ammo, Mercenary Warlord, Concussive Blast (Spec out of Inferno Grenade.)

For reference, I tend to use a standard Vanguard build (Heavy Charge, Champion, Inferno Ammo, Squad Cryo Ammo, etc).

Which squad members do you generally use lazuli? I've just started with my Vanguard on Insanity (just completed Mordins and Garrus' mission) and the combination Miranda / Jack seems to work quite well for me. Just curious which squadmates are a better combination though ;)

The question wasn't addressed to me but I like to take Miranda along on a lot of missions. Warp & Pull along with her passive buffs to the squad come in quite handy. I will then often take someone along that provides either a squad ammo power or has useful powers for the mission at hand.

For example I may take Zaaed vs. Geth [Disruptor Ammo] ... Depending on my mood I may also take Tali.

thanks lazuli

I just got the ability to re-train my powers on Insanity. It sucks that it doesn't let you have all the skill options available instead of needing to put points into powers you don't want in order to unlock the others.

I really want to be able to max out Pull into Pull Field, but it's impossible since 3 points need to be committed into Shockwave. The only possible way would be to keep Inferno Ammo at Rank 3. Besides spreading fire to more than one target, is their really a big/noticeable difference between 60% weapon damage and 40%

We kind of have the same discussion going on in two threads.  I talked about this in the Team Skill Building and Leveling Up thread as well.  In short, as a Vanguard on Insanity I get the most use out of Miranda and then one of her sniper companions.  By "sniper companions," I typically mean either Garrus or Thane, depending on the mission.  Kronner brought up a good point in that other thread though.  He adds Zaeed to the list specifically for missions against geth so that the team has acccess to Squad Disruptor Ammo.

The Miranda and Jack combination could certainly work well because of Warp Bombs, but I don't use those too often as a Vanguard.  I let my squad strip defenses while I bounce around killing things.

I was thinking of taking Stasis as my bonus, but it almost seems broken now that a good portion of the bonus damage comes from a bug.

For my Vanguard, I take Miranda for damn near every mission because of her powers and passive. Once I recruit Tali, she's brought on a lot of missions. For Miranda, I use Area Overload, Unstable Warp, and Cerberus Tactician. For Tali, I use Attack Drone, Quarian Mechanic, and Heavy Energy Drain.

The OP for this thread has been a great tool for me to learn how to play this class. I was one of those people that thought that unless you knew the map and all the spawn points, the Vanguard was a terrible class to play.

Lesson learned: Vanguard is a kick in the pants!

Yeah sabresandiego has been gone for a while, but he does have some great vids.

His saving all 20 crates vid on insanity helped me duplicate the same feat with my Vanguard.

Great guide btw.

You can either complete LoTS (where you can respec Teammates powers) or forgo maxing out her passive. Since not everyone have DLC what I normally do is max out her pullfield since my Shep have Area Reave, so I defense strip, she pulls, and Miranda detonates.

Like the build alot and all the advice/guide is great but in the AP vs Fire Ammo video you used it versus a Klixen. Do Klixen share the same properties of Mechs/Geth/Synthetics of having a fire resistance to incendiary ammo or was it an oversight on your part of not testing incendiary ammo on a unit with a fire resistance?

Finally stepping forward with an Insanity play though. The Eviscerator is boss. I still mod to get 1 point in pull though because I absolutely despise Shockwave.

I just wanna thank you for making this wonderfull guiide wich really helped me to understand a little of this class. And also gave me courage to start a insanity playthrough, wich now I'm addicted.

I've made some videos, merely to show to my friends, but they shows how much I have improved with this guides helps(I know that I'm no where near the people that posts videos, but still...)

Not seen any Vanguard vids for awhile, the charge montage was pretty cool and the intros and outros were funny.

Awesome vids there Aynien. XD
