Idea on inventory, and loot system in ME3

What I think should happen is a mix between the ME1 system and the ME2 system. What im meaning is, that we can loot weapons, and armor and customize it but we can still get the upgrades for it too. Also instead of planet scanning it'd be great to pick the required materials/parts for these upgrades, and/or possible assemble weapons and armors out of these materials. You would get these materials and parts from side missions so there's more of an incentive to do them, rather then some credits. An example of this would be if you killed a Thresher maw on foot or something, you could harvest and skin that Thresher maw's natural armor to egineer a suit of armor for your crew. Kind of like killing a dragon in BG2 and making armor out of it's scales(except you wouldn't pay for it).
For the loot system I'd really like to see some uniques. It'd be great if these uniques could be random loot that drops off of a certain enemy, and a fixed drop from a boss. However if there would be a random drop right, it would have to be high enough to drop per playthrough without grinding, so the game doesn't turn into a grind fest. As an example, say you went a mission were you fight Geth, one of those geth during that mission have a chance of dropping a geth rifle in that mission or another one involving Geth. For the fixed drops I'd really like to see them drop off of really hard boss battles, like the Thresher maw example I mentioned above. Also it would be awesome if the bosses could have a unique design, like an experimental husk like creature, or an advanced gunship, and the list goes on.

One of the things i'd like most out of mass effect is uniques after killing a large boss, it's always been my favourite part of an RPG.

Agreed. I mean your a captain of a starship, not a lone adventurer in the wilderness making your armor out of anything you can kill.

The only thing that needs to be improved for ME2/3 is simply add more gear options.
P.S. To be honest, planet scanning isn't terrible. If you do a little research on the upgrade costs, you can easily, and I mean easily acquire all necessary materials before you even recruit your last teammate in Act1 (before Horizon).

ME1's inventory system was as horrid as the MAKO. It is a good thing those two were abolished.

If you want to talk about the Mako, go see the Hammerhead threads, since it apparently not abolished just delayed.
Outside of the Normandy there is now inventory system. Getting a new gun in a mission means that gun is now equipped even if the player doesn't want it. Having no inventory means hoping there is a conveinent weapons locker somewhere.
Funny how people say it was like being a hobo in ME1 picking up items, yet it is ok to be a thief in ME2 hacking into peoples and business PDAs taking their money.

ME1 was a pretty classic RPG gear upgrade system. Not bad but cumbersome.
Sorting out armor and weapon Upgrades was a pain in the ass.
ME2 was nice but a little too simple for me. Give me more armor and gun choices.
I do like how all the armor and weapon upgrades from ME1 were turned into general upgrades or class powers. And I loved the color customization.

The Hammerhead is not likely going to be anything like the MAKO was. Not even close.
- The Hammerhead flies. The MAKO does not.
- The environment is more than likely going to be much more detailed this time around. No more endless plains and mountains.

It is branded the Firewalker DLC and will likely have a mission going over lava, so I certainly hope it does fly.
Flying aside, the Hammerhead is the Mako of ME2.
"The environment is more than likely going to be much more detailed this time around. No more endless plains and mountains."
You said the Mako was horrid which is a separate issue from the terrain design of ME1. Mountains are fine if you know how to go around them. The horizons of those planets more than made up for the terrain issues for me.
There are times when a locker isn't luckly directly next to the weapon, like on Horizon.with the Particle Beam Collector.
Man what luck Shepard has with finding new weapons and storage lockers so close to each other in most missions,...it is amazing.

Because it makes so much more sense to pull whatever gun you need for any given situation out of Hammerspace. Am I right?

You're right if that means every game that uses inventory and the magic bag system is wrong.
But if you want ultimate realism with ME2, tell me when I pick up a new gun where does my old one go?

An alliance weapons locker on a collector ship,...yeah more silly than believing your character can carry more than you see.
There's that, Citadel Space heat-sinks in a collector ship. and refined mineral casks also in a collector ship, just waiting to be collected.
Complete realism would be a pain in the rear, people should be careful what they ask for.

I also do want the ability to customize team armor like you can do with your N7 one.

I for want the system to stay like in ME2, but as people said more gun choices AND the ability to put weapon mods, not many of them, just like 3 slots and like 3-5 choices per slot would be more then enough.

Having any team armour would be a start really.
I remember when ME2 was being marketed before launch, the development team said that, regarding weapons, if you found a new weapon which was more powerful than what you had, and the same class of weapon, you would replace the less powerful one.
Not quite what we ended up with really.
There's a few things now where Bioware, whilst not lying, have been not actually truthful.

For the inventory, something akin to DA would be ok, where items of the same type are grouped together. The items are also smaller and so more fits on the screen at one time.Andaius20 wrote...
To me there was no reason to completely scrap the Inventory screen in ME 2, or the merchant aspect either. All you really needed to do was not have 10 versions of everything, and not dump so much on the player at the same time and have better sorting. So is cutting out the x Mods system on weapons and armor and subbing "research Assault rifle damage 1/5" in it's place.
If we have to have upgrades, at least allow us to purchase these at a store. It's a complete pain to have to go on missions to get said upgrades...this severely limits replay potential for me.

Not more silly, no. I meant that they're equally very silly.
