Weeks ago after beating Mass Effect 2 for the 5th time, I started a debate with my wife that Video games are so much better than movies. Now some games do have crappy storylines but there have been horrible movies as well. When a game captures such a great story as this game does, there is no way any movie can come close. You immerse yourself into the world of this story compared to sitting on the couch and watching the story. Sale numbers don't mean anything to me, I'm talking about entertainment value and quality. Heck, video games are so powerful they're obviously killing the youth of america!

I think it's possibly for a game to do a lot of things narratively that a film can't. I don't think narrative focused games have been developed as far as film though. There's still a long way to go.

a night at the movies costs me 20$ by myself and entertains for maybe 2 hours. for 3x that, i can get a good 10 hours out of a mediocre game.....a good game like ME2 gave me over 40 before it started to bore me...

Was there ever a legitimate debate? Probably not but there was between my wife and I. I found some websites comparing the two. I just think Mass Effect is the prime example of why the video game industry is the strongest entertainment outlet there is. I guess moral of the story is, we are fortunate to not be so ignorant in this matter.
