So, I was hoping some more information would be given about this "genetically engineered starship" in ME2 but nothing ever came up. Do you guys think this will play into ME3 or it was just a stupid thing they threw into ME1? Also, what do you think it is? Reaper or something else?

It was just a minor trivia that few people noticed and I doubt it'll be mentioned in ME3

The Leviathan of Dis is only one of many such tidbits that may or may not be important later. I have compiled them here: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/1389178 if you want to take a look at the list. From ME1 they used the Klendagon Rift and Solcrum (not listed - too recent) in ME2, so it is quite possible more of those will show up. There are some interesting candidates in that list (a planet of nano machines, a Jupiter-sezed supercomputer) and a lot of evidence of part Reaper attacks (planets with evidence of mac bombardment). Please feel free to check out the list, make comments and draw speculations from it.

We thought the same thing about Klendagon.

You will never hear about it again. It was just useless filler information for one of dozens of filler planets.

Actually it was a pretty direct reference to Farscape.

I didn't even know what that was until I did a Google search, I never read those descriptions

It may also be a reference to the organic ship found in the episode "Tin Man" of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I think the Leviathan was pretty much a direct Farscape reference.

On the other hand, I suspect the 'lost crypts of the beings of light' might come into play at some point.

Species 8472, anyone? How about a Tyranid Bio Hiveship? The Telkji- I can't spell that- Vagabond? In all seriousness, though, I hope they weren't all just useless tidbits of bygone eras but rather something with a role to play, even a minor one. Here's hoping!

It was Sovereign.

Actually, I haven't read the first book, so I need someone who has to tell me I'm wrong.

I disagree.  Not everything should be important to current events in any way, even a minor one.  The galaxy's a big place and it's been around a long time, a lot of stuff has happened, and the vast majority of it should not really be significant to Shepard or her mission or her crew.

Of course, that depends on your literary point of view, but I do not agree with the principle that everything that is mentioned in a story should be used.  Sometimes people just have guns on their walls.

It's a little unreasonable to expect every little reference to be explained.

But the Farscape reference was great.

Sure is. However, I am personalyl not saying I expect it to be, I'm saying that after the obscure Klendagon becoming a primary plotpoint, we can't assume it won't either.

As I see it, the Jupiter-sized super computer might relate to the Hitchhiker's 'Super Computer'.
Earth.

I'm hoping ME3 will detail what happened/happens with the Leviathan of Dis, since that was my favorite planet description aside from Klendagon. There was also another planet that had a valley created by a mass effect slug glancing blow, if I recall correctly, but I can't remember its name.

As for the Leviathan, I'm guessing it was a reaper or a rachni dreadnought.

Oh, I think giant space ships and long lost species and giant ****-off computers should be used, they just don't have to be used in the Shepard-Story. Mass Effect has a massive potential for "spin-offs" which might actually be decent.

Couldn't it just have been a Collector ship?

They're organic-y looking.

I figured it was just a Farscape reference too but what about the part where the batarians stole the ship? That sounded like clear forshadowing that they would use it in the future to attack humanity.

The Leviathan isn't Rachni or Collector. It was thought to be nearly a Billion (yup, B not M) years old.
