Okay, I had nothing but crashes with the toolset lightmapper since its first release in the beta program but I finally got it running today. The simple solution for me was to use the two step process of installing Python 2.5 followed by the win32all extensions for Python 2.5 instead of using the Activestate Python 2.5 library. If you have Activestate Python installed, remove it before installing the new libs.

I am using Vista64 and this is what I needed to install:

File location: http://www.python.or...d/releases/2.5/
File: python-2.5.4.msi

File location: http://sourceforge.n.../pywin32/files/
File: pywin32-214.win32-py2.5.exe

@JasonNH

Sorry, word must not have got filtered back to you on this earlier. There is a problem with the ActiveState Python 64 bit version. However, you can download and install the 32 bit version and it will run without problems on your 64 bit machine. Now that you have it working, there is no point in messing with things. This information was available in one place on the wiki, and I just added it to another for better visibility.

Glad you are up and running now.

Ha ha, yeah I missed that note. Oh well, I'm glad it's there now.

I've been getting the same problem (i.e. light mapping failing with code -1073741515) on my 32-bit system. It has been preventing me from releasing LRRHR so I'll try the fix and let you know how I get on.

No error code any more: but some horrible black strips in the area!

Now if only we can find a way to fix the error on the 32 bit systems... *sigh*

Water can not be done without lightmaps correct?

Yeah, I did get one of those too. Haven't found out how to get rid of it yet.

I did both those installations above and still get that lightmap error.

According to what I've read, any version of Python above 2.5 is NOT backward-compatible and the game requires the 2.5 version. I had to download Python 2.5.4 (NOT ActivePython, I still had issues with that version) and also download the Win32DLL add-ins (links on the Python site. Then I had to reinstall the toolset, since when it was first installed it used the registry links to the old Python version. I've got it working now.

I installed both of those and I didn't have ActivePython ever on. I reinstalled the Toolset anyway but it still doesn't work. I'm on Win7 x64, if that matters.

Ok fixed this by manually copying the 3 python dll's from SysWOW64 to System32. Now it will render light. However, all my terrain is black for the entire area. Everything except me and the sky.

I'm running Vista 64 and getting that error code (among others). I'm 99% sure I don't have ActivePython (never installed it, couldn't find it while searching), and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Python 2.5.4 any number of times and then installed the Win32 extensions. It will still only render lightmaps on interior levels and stubbornly refuses for exteriors.
