There is a piece of unique equipment purchasable in Orzimmar (I believe it's a plate helm) named "Shadow of the Empire."

Actually, it's a piece of light armor for the chest. I think...

I also like the "Princess Bride" references :)
Shale saying "Have fun storming the castle!" And the PC dialog option to say "Sten, tear his arms off" when dealing with the merchant who bought Sten's sword outside Orzammar :)

Ser Cauthrein: "Surrender!"
Grey Warden: "DEATH FIRST!"

The random encounter after leaving Lothering (which is an egg unto itself. L.O.theRing) with two dead travelers, one of whom has a note that says "we should have just taken the damn giant eagles."

Wow, can't believe I never even gave that a second thought. Pretty obvious when you point it out.

At the post-coronation the very last thing Sten says is something like, "Where is the cake? I was told there would be cake. The cake is a lie"

I actually had my dog randomly got me a "Found cake" labelled as gift, maybe it is for Sten.

I found a ring called the "one ring" can remember what it did but is clearly a major reference to the one ring from the lord of the rings

As clear as the corpse of a 'small boy' with the note that says, "Why didn't we just take the giant eagles to the mountain?"

There's an obvious Monty Python reference in one of the riddles when you are in the Gauntlet. :)
Ah yes the riddle went like this:
"A smallest lark could carry it while the strongest man could not. Of what do I speak?"
You can answer "Coconut", which is an obvious Monty Python reference. :)

Yes, Mass Effect contains an easter egg. Of a game made 1-2 years (I don't remember) after it was. Makes perfect sense.

EDIT: Then again, it's entirely possible you meant that it was foreshadowing, in which case you aren't an idiot. But if it was what I thought first, then yes, you're an idiot.

Yeah, DO:A has been in development for half a decade, so its posible the writers may have crossed over somewhat.

It is, I hoped it would be a set for my rogue - good light armor is really lacking in the game...

There are quite a few similar names and thematic references to G R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, which isn't surprising.

Off the top of my head:

* Duncan - Ser Duncan the Tall from the Hedge Knight

* Jory - Jory Cassel from Winterfell

* Kaitlyn - Catelyn Stark

* The Silent Sisters - The Silent Sisters are a female religious order of the Seven in ASOIAF

* A sword named Oathkeeper

Then there's:

* Both the Grey Wardens and the Legion of the Dead have similarities to the Night's Watch.

* You've got a meteorite sword which is similar to the sword Dawn belonging to the Daynes in ASOIAF

* Alistair has certain similarities with Jon Snow

I don't know if they count as easter eggs, but as a big ASOIAF fan, I found them pretty interesting.

I thought that entire entry cried "Zorro" from the rooftops ;)

Oh, and by the way, in another codex entry (could it have been about King Calenhad?) a certain lady named Shayna is mentioned. I'd take off my hat, had I had one, for such a famous lady...

Thank you and I am not an idiot considering they have been making Dragon Age for about as long as they were making Mass Effect so when they made Mass Effect they were still building DragonAge.

So in other words Up yours.
(I dont like being called an idiot)

Wow, thanks for completely ignoring that I said that if it wasn't the first one then you weren't an idiot.

Continuing the ASoIaF contrasts-

the Loghain-Maric-Cailin business has shades of AGoT, with Loghain as Ned, Maric as Robert and Cailin as Joffrey, but with the sympathies inverted. Loghain is both the idealistic Ned and the ruthless Tywin at the same time, which is something of a headache.

If R + L = J, then it may not be Alistair, so much as the hypothetical demon baby of the sequel, who resembles Jon Snow.

At least DAO was a Prophecy Free Zone, so neither Alistair nor Demonigan are likely to turn out to be the Prince Who Was Promised.

And I'm glad there was no character like Gregor. If there was, I'd have been too scared to play!

one funny part also:

during the rescueing mission for the queen, there's a door before her room, and if you open it and don't get in, you can see a guard and a servant on her knees in front of him and they have a dsicussion like "we shouldn't do it, somebody could come" - "come on, everybody is eating write now" - "oh, ok then, hihi...." well in the middle of an infiltration/ rescue mission it's just unexpected XDDD

its worth taking you trusty little dog with you everywhere just for the random Junk he brings to you, my fav gets to be the little boy he finds and want to keep as ... his pet. i think the dialog goes something like this..

"oh boy a puppy"

"if we keep him he has to came and fight dark spawn with us"

..(happy bark)..

also with fill pick pocket skill you can pick pocket the spoilt brat in the market pace and lift her crown.
