Yes, Mass Effect contains an easter egg. Of a game made 1-2 years (I don't remember) after it was. Makes perfect sense.

EDIT: Then again, it's entirely possible you meant that it was foreshadowing, in which case you aren't an idiot. But if it was what I thought first, then yes, you're an idiot.

Yeah, DO:A has been in development for half a decade, so its posible the writers may have crossed over somewhat.

Thank you and I am not an idiot considering they have been making Dragon Age for about as long as they were making Mass Effect so when they made Mass Effect they were still building DragonAge.

So in other words Up yours.
(I dont like being called an idiot)

Peace Buddha

You're a complete idiot.

There are quite a few similar names and thematic references to G R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, which isn't surprising.

Off the top of my head:

* Duncan - Ser Duncan the Tall from the Hedge Knight
* Jory - Jory Cassel from Winterfell
* Kaitlyn - Catelyn Stark
* The Silent Sisters - The Silent Sisters are a female religious order of the Seven in ASOIAF
* A sword named Oathkeeper

Then there's:

* Both the Grey Wardens and the Legion of the Dead have similarities to the Night's Watch.
* You've got a meteorite sword which is similar to the sword Dawn belonging to the Daynes in ASOIAF
* Alistair has certain similarities with Jon Snow

I don't know if they count as easter eggs, but as a big ASOIAF fan, I found them pretty interesting.

Don't forget Old Nan and her stories, from the human noble origin.
Also:
Loghain = Tywin Lanister
Howe = Roose Bolton plus a sprinkle of Randyl Tarly
Highever = Winterfell
The Blight = The Others
The Couslands = The Starks
Qunari = The Ironmen minus the obsession with the ocean
That self-serving dwarf in Redcliffe with his hired thugs = Tyrion
Reckless King who gets himself killed under dubious circumstances resulting in a civil war = Robert
Grey Wardens (complete with Right of Conscription) = Night Watch
Landsmeet = Kingsmoot

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

EDIT: Who said Loghain = Ned? WTF? Ned was Lawful Stupid and would never do anything self-serving even if it was for the greater good. Loghain is Tywin to a T. The only different being that Tywin had no chance of getting the throne so he just conspired to put his own puppet Kings (grandsons) in power.

In the courtyard at Warden's Keep, a bunch of crows will slowly gather around Shale and start following her if she's in your party. Easter egg or not, it's amusing none the less.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but when I encountered Zevran for the first time as a female dwarf noble with a party including Oghren, part of the dialogue between Zevran and Oghren went along the lines of: Zevran says "So what now? Are we suppose to engage in elf-dwarf bantering the whole way?" to which Oghren replies "Nah". Kinda was hoping Oghren would give an approval point for that but alas, -3 disapproval. Still, it was a complete reference to Legolas and Gimli of LotR.

Also, there are all the gravestones behind the barn in Haven with heaps of references to internet pop culture, would recommend reading them all, gave me a few good laughs :)

There was a codex entry that was definitely a reference to the wheel of time but I've forgotten it >< I'll try and find it.

Dwarven poem by 'Paragon Suess':

'Do you like fried mush and nug?

Would you eat them on a rug?

If you eat, you'll get a hug!

I would not eat them on a rug,

From you I would not want a hug.

I would not drink them from a jug,

I'd rather eat a slimy slug!'

etc, etc.

See 'Green Eggs and Ham', written in 1960 by Dr Seuss!

'I would not like them here or there.

I would not like them anywhere.

I do not like green eggs and ham.

I do not like them Sam I Am.'

I think I prefer the Paragon's, despite my love of the cat in the hat. But that's probably just because I like Nugs.

Anyone out there remember Jagged Alliance?

Wade's armor quest looks like a reference to Angel's store in JA2. Wade was the author of one of the most in-depth JA faqs out there.

I'm not certain if this is a nod to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, but Gatekeeper requests to parley because they must acquiesce to the Lady's wishes. (The language seemed particularly forced there so I have strong suspicions.)

Portal: Sten at the end "Where is the cake? I was told there would be cake. The cake is a lie."

Well, Isolde is pretty much Catelyn.
Would do pretty much anything to protect her son? Check.
Hated Alistair for being a bastard (possibly her husband's bastard)? Check.
Pestered her husband into forcing the aforementioned bastard to join an order enforcing chastity on its members? Check.
Yeah, sounds a lot like Catelyn Stark to me.

I'll have to disagree on Tywin=Loghain, though. Twyin is a political genius, he's cold and scheming and rarely gets something wrong.
Loghain is far too emotional, and, as far as political matters and evil plots go, not so smart.
I mean, he let Cailan die at Ostagar in front of a bunch of witnesses ( the troops he was supposed to lead ), a good chunk of the bannorn were against him when he declared himself regent and he even recruited Zevran in person! On my first playthrough, I accidentally skipped the cutscene introducing Zevran. When I beat and questioned him, I immediately asked who hired him. I was expecting some "hooded man" or something along those lines, instead, I got a "Loghain did it!". That's something Tywin would never do.

Lellian talks to the dog about a dog she knew in Orlais. Its name was Bo Bo. She tells of how the small dog would jump out and chew on your ankles. Then one day she kicked it over the balcony.

This is a reference to Huddson Hawk movie with Bruce Willis staring in it. classic.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the Sword of Truthiness from the Human Noble origin, which is a dual reference to Stephen Colbert and the Terry Goodkind novels (The Sword of Truth series).

Not exactly an easter egg, but the Glamour Charm description: "This charm captures the viewers attention and distracts.. ooh.. pretty.."

The Load Limit Reached always makes laugh, though i did enjoy listening those elevator conversations.

another Buffy reference was the dismembered fade beast, clearly inspired by "the Judge" from the Buffyverse

and the whole Sacred Ashes Gauntlet just screamed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The Glamour Charm description could possibly be a reference to Sluggy Freelance (online comic).  Kiki the Ferret, one of the two pets of the main characters, was always going, "Ooooh, shiny!" whenever she saw something "pretty."   I don't read that comic anymore as of about five years or so ago, but I'm pretty sure it's still running.

Is it just me or are people assuming that completely random groupings of words are an allusion to some other game or movie or book? Seems some people are convinced that someone saying "And here we go." references some obscure form of media no one has ever heard about.

"Are you mad? Have you seen you? Better yet, have you seen what you did to the demons previously occupying this room? You turned them into some gelatinous, oozing puddle that seems to be leaking into the cracks between the stones as we speak."

The parley thing got me too. Pretty weird wording in that situation

Nod to Mass Effect.

Look at the Moon in the Party camp and You'll know what I'm talking about. "The Great Rift Valley".

There's probably a lot of arguing about if it's a crossover or a nod because they were in development at the same time for a year or two. I have to say it's an acknowledgement to Mass Effect. Because Mass Effect is what makes that particular Planetary body significant. Giving it some lore and identifying it as unique. Just my 2 cents tho.

I found a guy named "Casavir" in the tavern in Denerim. He wasn't a Paladin tho, so perhaps it's not an easter egg.

There is actually a easter egg in Mass Effect I did not understand till I played this. In the opening mission of the game when you get to the colonist camp the scientist you find in the building thanks the maker. Didn't get it till now

More likely a Star Wars reference.  Droid religion basically, C3P0 says "Thank the Maker."
