 I recently had a host of problems with my PC.

My video card died and my power supply went.  So when I went to replace those two things I took the opportunity to upgrade windows as well.  I went from Vista 32bit to Windows 7 64 bit.

When I installed it put all of the old windows stuff into a "Windows.old" folder.  I chose that so I wouldn't lose anything.

Currently Mass Effect 2 is not listed as installed on my machine.  It being a new operating system, I expected as much.  The problem is that when I popped in Mass Effect 2 disk 1, not only is there no option to install, it says "UNINSTALL" but that button is greyed out and I can't click on it.

How do I fix this?

I had to search the disc (open it like a folder) and run setup as an administrator. I had to install the game again, when i did so windows notified me that the program was possibly not installed correctly. The game seems alright so far. however I will Probably uninstall and install again. (at least it has the option to uninstall now) wish it didn't take so long to install! good luck

I have the exact same problem BUT i have no cd. Would be awesome if someone could help me solve this frustrating problem!

Except that i deleted my "windows.old" And i have it downloaded through EA manager.

Try this.

Start > Run
Type in regedit and run it
Look through the tabs on the LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE.

If it is found in there, that means it exists as Installed.
The only way to remove this would be to use CMD or a non-windows program to remove Mass Effect.

what i did was delete the game folder then use CCleaner to remove the rest
