Heya everyone,

I have purchased an Xbox 360 CE edition of ME2 and am wondering if I buy a regular ME2 Version for PC, if i will have to purchase another Cerberus Network Code. I have already activated the code on the xbox.

Thanks.

I would think it would be different as long as you use separate account names, but I would think the code would work for any account, even if the accounts are the same as long as the codes are different. Besides, your gamertag is tied to your 360 and the account, unless you created an email account on XBL for specific use with EA, that is different from your email account used for XBL

Be careful, EA support literally stinks when it comes to making sure you get to use your code. When I bought Dragon Age for PC and got the code for the content for ME2, and I used it, it stated that the code was already used. When I emailed support, they said there was nothing they could do as the code was used. When I told them I could provide the receipt for the game as being bought new and that it isn't my problem that somehow someone else used the code and that I would take the game back for another until I got a working code, they unlocked it for me.

I have a question though, why would you purchase the same game for use on another format (that being a PC).? Unless you want to cheat, which you can with a PC version. But the graphics are not noticeably that much better from PC to the 360, if you have a HDTV for your 360. The load times are certainly faster for sure and the gameplay is very smooth. But from what I've seen from the 360 gameplay, it is much better than it was than ME1 was on the 360.

Because, i do not have access to my 360 anymore and thus the only option to play mass effect 2 is through my laptopPosted Image. Although, my question still remains. Do i need to have a Cerberus Code for 360 as well as PC?

P.S. Im not a PC fanboy, if that is what you were asking.... Posted Image

Man, I can't believe I just witnessed an xBox360 v. PC thread. You realize they're both computers with motherboards, cpus, ram and hdds and powered by Microsoft right? "you got peanut butter in my chocolate" 'you got chocolate in my peanut butter'

Here's a thread on this issue, it discusses this problem: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/107/index/772606/1

You should get the cerbersus network code in the box though, but i think that the Xbox code wont work on PC. Since if you check your profile here on the site, all codes you redeemed are PC and Xbox 360 but all the cerberus network stuff is 360 only, for me at least.

Looks like the Cerebrus Network is a per-copy activation rather than per-account. Blood Dragon Armor, etc are showing up in my promotions for multiple platforms - but Cerebrus Network items are only showing up on PC promotions.

This shouldn't be a problem as long as you get a new copy of the game rather than purchasing a used copy though.

As I can tell you, having bought ME2 PC Collector's first for myself and then buying ME2 for Xbox 360 for my brother, each with his own BioWare/EA Account, I've tried to play ME2 on the Xbox 360 for the first time, using my account, and it allowed me to download every DLC that I have on my game promotions page, plus the Cerberus Network DLCs with a strange behaviour.. the Cerberus Network (and ofc the laptop) still remain closed asking for a code, but its DLCs were active and I downloaded them without problem!

After registering ME2 for Xbox 360 on my brother's account and logging on his account from his profile, he activated the Cerberus Network for himself and used the game promotions he had active (the same as me, except for the collector's rifle and armor).

What I think is that it's a bit weird that the DLCs are available and authorized since I've purchased ME2 for PC and enabled the Cerberus Network, but the laptop on the Xbox 360 will stay closed when I play from my gamertag oO

The Cerberus key itself is bound to the platform. There are XBox Cerberus keys and PC Cerberus keys. Other codes are multiplatform, only the Cerberus key is limited to one platform.

Determining fanboyism wasn't part of my previous answer and I wasn't trying to make that determination, I simply asked why you bought the two versions, and you gave the reason why, which was sufficient. If your PC copy is new, then you use a code to download all of the Cerberus stuff, no issues. IIRC, the 360 version automatically detects a new game when it is first connected through XBL, and the network starts up. Otherwise, to get it on the 360, one has to register with EA, pay a $10 fee just to access the stuff, if the game is second hand.

I asked why the two purchases. But the fact does remian that there is not much difference in looks, other than loading times and a bit faster performance on the PC version, otherwise, it is not all that better looking on the PC. IT is obvious from playing ME2, that it was ported to the PC from the 360, as some of the textures look gawd awful in certain aspects of the game. But PCs are powered by its hardware, and the operatiing system is just the medium that helps deliver the hardware system to running software. Microsoft no more powers my Intel i7 950, my Radeon 5870x2, my 12gigs of 1333mhz RAM, nor my Intel X25-M 160gig SSD as much my Rampage II Extreme motherboard does. If anything, Windows is powered by my MOBO settings.
