I've had this problem at least twice while scanning a planet. Sometimes when I finish scanning a planet I just can't go back to the system map since the "esc" buttom doesn't work, so I have to close the game and restart again. I hope it gets fixed soon. Anyone else has got this problem, by the way?

I've had the same exact problem. It seems to happen randomly.

I haven't tried the forum's own search for this one, and cannot describe for you the right way to get Google to seach its databases for only messages here on the Social Site (but such a way exists).  I am certain that I have seen more than just this one old thread about this.  It is true that the in-house search is very ineffective, but it is better than nothing at all.

Summers are alwasy very slow in forums like this one.  Readership is way down, and very many questions never get answers.  For official assistance, you need to go to the EA support site.

escape scanning site:http://social.bioware.com

Here's a 4 page thread on the same issue.

Escape wont function if the game thinks the scanner is still active. If you interact with the interface very fast, and get ahead of the slow ui animations you can accidentally trick the game into thinking scanning is active, when its not. The game can behave like you're on one UI screen but display another. Similar to accidentally phantom clicking UI buttons when you click right on their very edge.

Getting it to start/stop scanning again should return the escape key to working order. The general avoidance method seems to be, let the screens animate and don't rush through the UI when scanning.
