Which is another one of the reasons that I got irritated by that last vid. WE'RE the ones that converted you to the vanguard, but we can't explain what makes it function? How on earth does that make any sense?

hahahahaha

Adepts are better speakers.

edit: I'm not even sure what I said made sense, but I'm leaving it here in case it did.

Sure it did. It goes back to the DA:O analogy we had going in the other thread. Mages tend to be more well spoken than 2h warriors; therefore, adepts are more eloquent in the speech department than us vanguards tend to be. Even though the adept understood us just fine.

When I played DA:O I started as a mage. Died a lot. Switched to a female 2h swords. Kinda looked like your picture actually. Course I 100% winged it when I played. No guides or helps or forums, so I made plenty of mistakes with the mage. 2h seemed pretty simple: Strength, talents in 2h.

Commencing thread derailment

I wonder if this thread can survive another derailment.

If you guys haven't tried this on 2h, get two mages in your party and run double haste. It gets crazy :o

I was trying to be all RP like, so I only ever had the "good" characters (Wynne, Leliana, and Alistar). And I never did anything with Wynne besides heal...

Lets just say I won't be making any DA:O guides or even commenting on any boards any time soon.

Your only mistake was not picking a dwarf.

So true. I regretted it. Alistar was a such a whiner. Good thing I married him so all of fereldan wouldn't have fallen apart.

I had a 2h chick too.  Ran her around in Ancient Elven armor, then I ordered Alistair to marry some chick, and killed the Archdemon so I wouldn't have to listen to Alistair whine about it.  Actually, it was a really good ending.

Hahhaa...I'm probably the worst vanguard then - I constantly use shockwave at long to medium range to soften up my opponents or fling them to different positions and then charge to close range flankers or any lone enemy whose cover I want to use.

I never really use charge from long or medium distance unless I really know that the location I charged into has only 1-2 enemies or has cover I can use.

I was using shockwave to push ppl out of the places they hide behind, then using pull or charge depends on situation.

I find shockwave to be a very handy skill to use in battles of attrition or any battle really where you cannot safely charge (lack of cover/too many enemies bunched up together/lack of info on enemy numbers or location).

I mean, I kinda understand now why shockwave is the skill vanguards have to put points in first before getting pull - I find I use much less pull now that I use shockwave and SMG/AR to soften enemies from long to medium ranges.

Pull is definitely a much more situational use for the vanguard whereas shockwave is often applicable to any long range combat and some medium range combat.

Roxlimn you're annoying. Sinosleep's videos of him just playing helped me more than any other thing where people explained stuff. Thisisme's thread was good too though.

^^this, i was having a hard time with vg, then watchin sinos vids showed me how to play, and reading/contributing to the vg threads over the last couple of weeks has created what feels to me like a god of war.
