Will probably have to complete that playthrough to make a good consensus though

Everything has to be perfect.
Everything has to be aligned to my taste.
Etc.
Get over yourselves.

Am I the only one who thinks the voice acting for maleShep is seriously below par ?
Most of the voices are very good, those of the main characters often outstanding( FemShep, Miranda, Garrus, Tali, Wrex , Thane,..)
And the worse thing is that it's not the voice itself that's the big problem. There are more voices in the game that are not so pleasing to my ears( Ash, Samara, Liara), but this is not insurmountable and very subjective anyhow.
The issue is that when I hear these voices I believe them, while maleShep sounds as if he's reading his lines from the textbook.
It really ruins playing male Sheps for me: I find myself constantly skipping dialog and as a result somtimes picking the wrong dialog option.
I think Bioware made a wise decision in Kotor having all but the player's lines spoken.
Dragon Ages approach of different voices to choose from seems(haven't played it yet) ideal off course altough I can imagine that this might be hard to implement in ME's context (being a consolegame, different concept, ea)
To each his own. I find the femshep voice reminisent of some cold hearted old ice queen corporate executive. It's like she has this "boss" voice and whenever she speaks to everyone like they are just subordinates - no sense of kinship or camaraderie. The male voice, to me, feels more like an old friend. There is more warmth and approachability in the way he speaks.
Depending on the dialog they can both be "dry"; however, I think this is more a factor of having multiple lines which they are trying to weave seemlessly together. A difficult, if not impossible task, if one response is supposed to be angry and the other calm, and then the next set of dialog options are of the same vain. Shepard's voice would be jumping from one emotion to the next if they put too much into each line. With that said, I think the voice acting just fine the way it is.

You do realize that natural leadership qualities are more than voice, right?
Charismatic and convincing speech is one of the defining traits of natural leadership. The ability to inspire others to follow you.
Male Shepard doesn't inspire me to do anything but quit the game and go back to Femshep.
There is several ways to inspire people in a role of leadership outside of giving pretty speeches. Shepard is one to lead the team from the front line and bring his or her experiance to bare on any situation you can possiable think of encountering. Meer gives me the impression he is confident and has faced these challanges not allowing emotion to get in the way or be displayed when he desires.
N7 is considered the elite of the Alliance Navy so compairing Shepard training level to that of a Navy SEAL wouldn't be too far streched or that it even surpasses it in difficulty. When Navy SEALs have a job to do communication is dry, robotic, and clearly spoken so ever word is understood.

The result is a compromise that falls into a region somewhere between that extreme and Crono from Chrono Trigger.

Honestly, she could have the best voice in the world and it wouldn't matter to me because a woman saving the universe in that fashion isn't really believable to me. Even if she is manlier than most other women.
Now if she somehow was able to bring universal peace by creating the most delicious pie in the world, then it would make sense.
Yeah I'm sexist. I don't care.
