So, I decided to play through the dwarf noble origin story...And discovered that my nifty red dragon armor, my memory band, and all the other DLC automatically given items are taken along with everything else when I reach the end of the dwarf origin story... Something which makes "sense" from a story perspective (although magically appearing items themselves don't), but which doesn't from a customer service perspective (some of these represent real money spent to _get_ said items.)
So, I tried disabling them and loading a save after the loss (and was informed that I had to have them on), forced the issue, saved, and re-enabled them. I did not disable those which added actual places, only those representing items.
The end result is that I got all but the memory band back.
So, word of warning - If you have these, don't enable them at all before going through the dwarf noble origin.

Wow thats buggy. I probably was saving dwarves for last since they seem to be generic fantasy dwarves unlike the elves, but thanks for the heads up.

Does this affect the 360 version too?(One might think this is a stupid question, but in fact all I've seen are people using the PC version, and also the hotfix that was addressed by BioWare devs only refer to the PC).

I haven't the faintest idea whether or not it affects the other versions, as I have the PC. I would imagine that it would be the same "remove all items" script regardless.

Here's a solution for PC if this happens:
* First save you game.
* Next, exit to the main menu and go into the Downloadable Content menu.
* Uncheck all of your active DLC items.
* Load your saved game, being sure to confirm the Force Load option.
* Save your game once more.
* Go back to the Downloadable Content menu and re-check all of your items.
* Load your saved game again.
