Places to stash extra items?

But that obviously means inventory space is at a premium, even when I immediately buy ever backpack I find for sale. I understand that the Warden's Keep offers a place where you can stash items, but are there any other places in the game where I can stick items I want to keep? I'm thinking in particular about the tavern in Redcliffe after the waitress takes over (since the "sell items" option has been replaced with "stash items"). If I DO stash things there, will the be available to me indefinitely?
Thanks!

I'm a bit of a packrat in games and like to hang onto items until I'm pretty sure I'll never want/ them later in the game or to equip on potential party members I haven't found yet; I haven't even sold any gems yet!

I have the same problem. I like to hang on to everything I get so I have a hard time picking what I want to sell when my inventory fills up (as it does often). The tavern in Redcliffe (as long as Bella takes over) does have a "stash items" option but for me it doesn't work. I play on the PS3 so it might work on different platforms. In my opinion your best bet would be to go through Warden's Keep to get the party storage chest you get once you finish the quest there. I know that is the next thing I'm going to work on in my current game.
As for backpacks you might want to be careful buying every one you come across. You can only have a maximum of 120 (125 for the PC I think) inventory slots. So if you are at that limit buying a new backpack won't increase your total inventory space, it is just taking up your money.

Hang on to 10 Garnets until you complete a particular quest (don't complain if you don't take the quest though). Sapphires, Topaz, Amethyst? and one other in that value range can be used to get XP off the dwarves.
I second the saving 10 garnets (I had to go buy them back in my 1st play-through for that quest) and then Malachite is the other stone to keep for XP in addition to the other three metatheurgist mentioned.

I think Warden's keep is the next side-quest for me as I just want to have a place to keep all this stuff. I do sell items when I have multiples or when I get something that's completely superior, but I just can't shake my instinct to hang onto certain items. I guess it's too many games where I needed this or that after I'd already sold it!
