I have noticed several similarities between TIM and Arcturus Mengsk from Starcraft.  They are both charismatic leaders of notorious terrorist organizations. The main character is forced to work with them to fight a powerful common enemy. Is TIM going to use the collector base to make himself the emperor of outer space after the reapers are defeated?

But do not forget Cerberus needs backing. Backing by the Alliance MIC, he can't just screw them over. He's trusted to do the right thing for humanity. Cerberus is humanity.

Well that's not happening in my games. I hated the Terran Dominion in Starcraft, sure they Confederacy was terrible but the Dominion wasn't any better either and at the end of Broodwar all the separate Terran governments separated so it was useless. Now they're all preparing to go to war with the Terran Dominion according to starcraft 2.



I can imagine the same thing happening with the other races, I don't know if there would be an enemy like the Zerg that would weaken Cerberus and allow the other races to separate and start preparing for war with humanit. As for the Illusive man and Mengsk being similar. I agree. Both of them have the best and worst of humanity in them and both somehow manage to get to the people playing the game.

It's not really what I ment. EDI mentions Cerberus has backing by the Alliance Military Industrial Complex. He can not operate on his own, he needs financial backing. If Cerberus goes too far, they'll pull their hands off. Cerberus is a way for the human military industry to test and facilitate new warfare technologies they can not use in the Alliance itself. Regardless of how TIM sees himself, he's merely a pawn with some self determination for the MIC to push for war.

Maybe now that TIM has the collector base at his disposal, he doesn't need alliance funding. He could just use the base to whip up a few reapers to extort the alliance with.

BTW if reapers are built to resemble the species they are made from, what species was used to create sovereign and harbinger? Fleas?

The point is, he can't just whip up a few reapers. It takes massive resources and the abduction of thousands of colonists. He can't just do that...
