In Mass Effect 1 squadmates have nearly as much talents as shepardt had(shepardt has charm/intimidate/spectre training/specialisation).The difference in cooldown times wasnt that big as now.
Now they have only 2 active talents for the most part of the game and long cooldown times. So samara/thane have a 9 second cooldown for throw compared with shepardt that only have to wait 3 seconds...
Its weird.

Shepard is a cyborg now. She can even lift armored krogan with one arm. Reaper tech FTW.

It was ok in the first game.No one complained that wrex was even a better soldier then shepardt.
But a difference of 6 seconds for cooldown times...
This is just to much for the "best specialist" in the galaxy.

He didn't seem so hot when Shep shot him in the face and killed him. One down, 10 million to go.

Well the krogan still has way more health than shepard. For the cooldowns, it may have been a balancing issue. Seeing as how you can use your squad abilities, bioware probably wanted you to be able to focus on shepard during gameplay. Otherwise you would have to use each character's abilities more often and strategically to stand a chance. This may have made combat less fun and more of a hassle having to cycle through all of your character's abilities so often.

I agree with this. They should have the same ammount of powers as Shepard. This is the same thing that happened with armor. BioWare thinks that letting us customize our teamates' armor would be frustrating. They must think that giving squadmates too many powers will bore people because they would have to manage more. I think this is stupid, if anybody thinks those two things are boring and frustrating then they should not be playing an RPG.

I would imagine Shepard-only armor is out of sheer laziness. I mean, PC users can't even get hi-res textures on the armors/clothing.

It was the most absurd cutscene in the game, that shepardt could melee someone like wrex down and kill him with one shot. Not worth to even arguing about that.

You're meant to be the hero. You don't want to play someone who isn't better than everyone.

So no, no one should compare to Shepard.

Except maybe Blasto.

Its less fun because squadmates like tali keep dying very fast because of the 12 second cooldown of the drone and ai-hacking...
That are essential tools of some squadmates without big health and shields.
Remember how good tali was in the first game even on insanity.Or liara, wrex and kaidan.

Shepardts role is more that of great leader that use the abilities of his team wisely then brute strenght.
Special class abilities like charge or cloak are enough to make him special in combat.Longer cooldown times or so much less talents on squadmates are not needed.
