The women of BG 2 and ME 2

Jaheira/Miranda: both have membership in an organization as a core part of their identity but can eventually resign due to their loyalty to the protagonist, both are set up as "second in comand" both have a forceful personality that can come across as ****y to some players
Viconia/Jack: background of physical abuse and rape, alternately warms up to and pushes the PC away, uses casual sex to forestall intimacy, can screw up romance by sleeping with her at the wrong time, can eventually have meaningful sex with her.
Aerie/Tali: Weakest correlation, but Tali is noticably sweeter and more easily flustered than the other two, only virginal LI. Both are the most morally good of the three.
Thoughts? If you played both, did your favorite female romance option match my breakdown?

Aerie and Tali link is dubious. Aerie was way more of a whiner than Tali, and was too wet a character for me. Tali's more like BG1 Imoen, without the incest.

... and where is the stfu coming from. I see no Tali insults in this thread.

Viconia and Jack are definately similar. Jaheira had the whole "dead husband" thing which Miranda didn't, but they do have similarities in temperament I guess.

good call on the Imoen thing.

Imoen and Minsc are probably two of my favorite fictional characters of all time.

+ Miranda is from a "special" family of a rich dad. Jaheira is almost royalty if I remember correctly.
I wouldn't compare Tali and Aerie at all. I think Tali has a lot more minerals, and is much more combative and less romantic overall.
Tali is more like Nalia.
Both are nobility, both are found wandering around. Tali - pilgrimage, Nalia - helping pour, troll attack.
Both return to serve on the council. Well not Tali, yet, but mark my word, she will be calling the shots in the flotilla in ME3.

I've just realized that the female romance options for ME2 are very similar to the options for BG2.

I haven't done any of the female romances yet, so I can't comment, but from what I've seen of personalities, they do match up quite well. I much prefer Jaheira over Miranda. I prefer Jack over Viconia. I prefer Tali over Aerie. ME2's winning so far.
As far as male romances go, in BG2 you've got Anomen, and that's pretty much it. In comparison, he's most akin to Kaidan -- they both have principles they're willing to fight and die for. But whilst I think Kaidan is a bit dull and wooden, Anomen is outright annoying in his arrogance. Though on the other hand, you can influence Anomen much more than Kaidan, who remains dull throughout the game. So for interaction, Anomen wins that one, sad as it sounds.

I think it was one of those tongue-in-cheek posts.

I guess i shouldn't be, but i've been suprised at the number of people who haven't heard of BG1 or 2, or the number of people who didn't get the Boo reference. I was thinking recnetly that one of the unfortunate things about gaming as a medium is the rate at which the delivery technology is outstripped by subsequent technologies. Unfortunately rendering some games as "unplayable" to certain groups. With games that are only a few years old having outdated graphics ect. It happens to a certain extent in other mediums i guess too: black and white films; older forms of English or other languages, but not at the same rate. Too bad. Everyone that likes the mass effect series should give those old games a chance. I'm pretty sure most of them wouldn't be disappointed
Indeed.
I wouldn't call any Infinity Engine game's graphics "outdated" though. They're beautiful compared to something like NWN.

What's up with the romance?!?! In BG you had to WORK, doing the right things saying the right stuff to get things going. In ME you just have to say yes, when time comes.
PLZ make ME3 more complicated!

God damn, I'd forgotten how whiny Aerie was. Though she does get more tolerable as the game goes on, and ended up growing on me eventually. In fact, I was quite distraught when Bodhi killed her and was quite horrified at the fact that I could keep her corpse in my inventory afterwards (this was before I discovered that you can actually bring her back to life).
"keep her corpse in my inventory"
Given the fact that you didnt know that she can be revived, i can imagine your thoughts. - "ewww.... WTF!!??"

There is also a fight over Aerie if you have Haer'Dalis in your group.

Amen brother. To go even further back - while playing ME2, I noticed some similarities to Star Control 2 (I can't even remember how long ago that was, but I still recall the game quite vividly), particularly in the way you'd move your ship between star systems and entering orbits etc. Hell, they even have that that awkward inertia thing where sometimes you completely overshoot your destination by a wee bit because you didn't stop accelerating soon enough. I wonder how many Mass Effect fans have played that classic game.

That's the one! Every time I hear someone say "Heya" I hear Imoen saying that line in my head. It's totally ingrained in my memory. I guess that just shows the impact that game had on me at the time. I couldn't believe how epic it was.
