I'd imagain its because it's more complicated to create specific conversations in ME athan BG2. In BG2, all the romance conversations start with just one line of spoken dialogue, and the rest is just text. Simple enough to impliment.RmanDC wrote...
While on the topic of BG2 vs ME2
What's up with the romance?!?! In BG you had to WORK, doing the right things saying the right stuff to get things going. In ME you just have to say yes, when time comes.
PLZ make ME3 more complicated!
In ME, not only is every single line voice acted, the characters also need to be mocapped with specific motions that aren't normally present in the game.
Still, it bugs me too. I mean, if they can provide lots of dialogue options with generally unimportant characters, they can make the character relationships a bit more interesting.

Let us give thank for ... Kelsey!
Seriously, if only we could create and add our own squadmates/LIs in ME like in BG.
Does anything think it possible to create NPC mods for ME?

Hmm, good observation. It's been too long since I have played BG2 so my memory isn't at full potential for finding more similarities. It's probably time to break out the oldies-but-goodies anyway. (Do they work with 64 bit win 7? lol)
Yes but the black wall to vision is a bit blocky.

Not say the ME2 Li's are bad, just think bioware can take a leaf from their own book...

They don't help you kill Bodhi, but you do clear out the crypts with them. Was pretty cool seeing Drizzt in BG1 when you're all weak, then again in BG 2 when you're more on the same level.Booglarize wrote...

When does she do that? I don't remember that.
All i know is the LI or closest friend gets kidnapped in hell for one of the tests.
Bodhi turns your LI into a Vampire when you went to kill her (after the underdark chapter). You have to resurrect her/him.
oh yeaaaaaaa, i remember! That happens actually O_O
That's a hard battle too, u get piled by vampires and u need magic to save you. They drain your levels. Bad.
That was the battle where Drizzt and his buddies fight alongside you, right? I think that was one of the more epic moments of the game. Would love to relive something like that in Mass Effect-quality graphics.

See, Imoen is who I always think of when comparing Tali too. (Also see Imoen in Leliana from DAO.) It's funny, but I can still hear Imoen's opening line from BG in my head.
Imoen and Minsc are probably two of my favorite fictional characters of all time.
Heya! It's me, Imoen!
That's the one! Every time I hear someone say "Heya" I hear Imoen saying that line in my head. It's totally ingrained in my memory. I guess that just shows the impact that game had on me at the time. I couldn't believe how epic it was.
The first time I heard it was right inside Candlekeep... And she had absolutely no idea that the PC was about to take a trip. Nope, sure didn't read any letter.

Yer all buffle-headed! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] But good call, Imoen is definately who I'd compare Tali to.
... Now I'm gonna have to go and install the BG games again. *sigh*
Those two games are the first two I install on any computer I've ever owned.

Jaheira is neutral good, she definitely was to do good things. it was only because in AD&D rules that she had to be TN. This was changed in 3rd D&D and you can mod Jaheira's alignment to NG.1490 wrote...
As a guy who has beat both games many times, I can agree with this. The differences I will point out though
-Jaheira and Miranda both work for secret organizations, but the Harpers is more of a "benefit everyone" organization whereas Cerberus advances "human interests" at the expense of all other species. If I can use traditional D&D alignments, Jaheria is true neutral and I'd say Miranda is lawful neutral.
-Viconia and Jack are both the "evil" love interest that can eventually be turned good or at least "neutral." However, Jack fights the good feelings she has becauseshe thinks they make her weak, whereas I thought Viconia is trying to be good and finding it difficult because she was born and raised to be evil.
-I'd say Aerie and Tali are both "lawful good," but I don't think Tali is naive and immature like Aerie, especially after her pilgrimage. That comes with their backgrounds though: Tali would have gained a lot of tech and social skills from the Flotilla, whereas Aerie would have had very few being a slave most of her life
Miranda would indeed by lawful neutral, she isn't interested in general goodiness at all. Viconia's alignment was just right, while Jack could be classified as chaotic neutral. She's not evil like the Collectors and Reapers are.
Aerie's alignment was also right but Tali is more lawful neutral then a good character. She isn't interested in the greater good at all, but highly loyal to Shep and her people. Tali compares more to Imoen though, except Imoen wants to be heroic and turns out to be your sister.
Personally I miss the NPCs from BG1 and BG2. Most were somehow more unique and interesting, even if they didn't have much to say (especially in BG1). Kagain ruined playing elves with me for example ("these forrests remind me of those pansy elves"). Edwin was hilarious, Xzar insane, Xan manically depressed, Minsc received too many hit on the head, Imoen was fiercely loyal, Garrick was litelary useless etc.

Yes, level drain sucks, glad I usually roll as an undead hunter. Besides.... Carsomyr The Holy Avenger..... *drool*
I also kind-of think Morinth fits into the whole thing with Phaere as well, as you go back to her apartment and can later betray her.

I agree. She only appears that way to some people because she is so used to needing to provide for her peers on the flotilla.

Nalia's helpful personality and shyness (minus TOB) and Imoen's innocence and history with protagonist (shepard)

In contrast, in ME2 it's hard NOT to make your female squadmates your LIs. Not ideal.
