Yeah, Viconia's Romance was depressing as all hell.
I always enjoyed slaughtering the villagers and the guards trying to burn her.

Viconia was the best LI in RPGs yet. As somebody said here, you had to bloody WORK to make any of the romances work, and Viconia's one was the hardest of all. In fact, one wrong dialogue option could mean 'game over'. It made making the cute little drow come out of her shell very rewarding.
In contrast, in ME2 it's hard NOT to make your female squadmates your LIs. Not ideal.
Aye BG2 def had more of a challenge to it for the Li's
