Concept

Mage of the Blood is a standalone, episodic campaign set in Ferelden at the start of the Dragon Age during the period of great upheaval that surrounded Maric's coronation. The Player starts as nothing more heroic than a downtrodden henchmen accompanying a Templar on a mission to locate and eliminate an apostate. The adventure begins as the party approach the remote farming village of Coredale in the midst of Thennan Forest.

Each module in the Mage of the Blood campaign is an adventure in its own right but, in best pulp fiction tradition, ends with a cliff-hanger situation that must be resolved in the next episode. In this way each module continues and expands the campaign's extended story arch. Additionally each episode provides a different play style from the one preceding it so that a role-play heavy module may be followed a hack-and-slash dungeon delve.

Project

The Mage of the Blood campaign had humble beginnings: it was something I conjured up to provide a focus for the Toolset Beta Testers with a view to having something to release on Day 1. Unfortunately events (and the toolset) conspired against us and we were unable to meet our original deadline. Since then most of the original contributors finished their assignments and drifted off to start their own projects or return to the realms of Neverwinter Nights leaving a small but passionate core to continue development.

The current team consists of members from around the globe with years of experience working with the Aurora-based toolsets (NWN, NWN2 and The Witcher). All of us were active members of the Toolset Beta and have spent anything up to a year getting to grips with the Dragon Age toolset. We have also persuaded the Players Resource Consortium to provide new specialisations that will be interwoven into the fabric of the campaign so they actually feel special!

Candidates

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and talented individuals who can make a real and sustained contribution to the Mage of the Blood project. We are considering applications for all designer/developer roles and candidates should be friendly, outgoing, mature, aware of their real life commitments and able to stay the course. We are determined to create a professional quality campaign and to have fun while doing it: you should be too!

If you are interested in joining the team or you have questions about the project send me a PM. If you are applying please tell me a bit about yourself; what your skills are and how you feel you could to contribute. If you have published mods should also include information on past projects and/or a link to your portfolio: preference will be given to individuals with the appropriate experience.

Please note that at the moment we are not looking for VO artists.

Awesome, SJ! I look forward to seeing how things progress and being able to play this some day soon! Looks like a great Module. I'm a little full up for helping right now, but depending on how long MotB takes, I might be able to help in future! Good luck!

This sounds like an excellent concept--very exciting to see something like this coming together!

I tried to get something going with a desire to mod before and after the game had been released. But delving into the toolset was too daunting of a task for one such as I. It would be nice if I was able to introduce myself into modding a game with an experienced modder(s). All that information is sitting there on the wiki and no real person to guide you through it. Some people (like me) are tactile and visual learners and don't develop the confidence and skill when trying to learn on our own.

In addition to what Sunjammer has already written, I'll just add that he has really provided his team with great resources to work with including a very well organized and constantly updated development wiki, an SVN repository, and an IRC chat channel where we actually get module stuff done on occassion. :)  The experience has exceeded my expectations on many levels.
