Hey guys, I bought ME 1 yesterday ('cause I wanted to get thru the story before begining the 2) and now that I installed it, I'm unable to launch it.

What I'm doing :
1 - I open Steam
2 - I click on Mass Effect 1
3 - I select "Launch Mass Effect"

After that, I got the little window telling me : "Launching Mass Effect"
Then, after 5sec, the window disappear and the game isn't started.

Any of you already got that problem?

Program Files(X86) --> Steam --> Steamapps --> Common --> Mass Effect --> and then I right click on Masseffectlauncher and selected run as administrator.

I did that and managed to get the starting window the pop (the one that contains Start, configure, etc). Problem is when I hit start, the game won't start and I got the same problem as in my earlier post.

I had the same problem. If you look at the Steam Mass Effect store page, you'll see a note that in order to launch Mass Effect, Steam has to run as admin.



In fact, it seem to be enough to run it as admin only for the first launch. Works fine without admin afterwards.

I am having the same problem but from a bought copy not steam a self install and patched to 1.0.2

Any one any ideas ?

I'd try the fix that Recnamoken has already suggested, it should work with the non-steam version too. If that doesn't work I'd like to confirm something, do you have a sound card?

Um, press ESC and this click Exit Game?
