I still regret paying full price for Fallout 3, even though I did it to support the IP.
It's plot felt terribly simplistic.
I liked how they brought the IP up to modern standards though even though it felt like Oblivion with nukes.
Now it's true that ME2 suffers from the murder mystery book telling you that 'the butler did it' - but that seems the only thing to me that you can hold against it.
As for piracy, Europeans have to spend up to 40% more on Mass Effect 2 then Americans, for example.
In this day and age the distance between a European customer and an
American producer of entertainment is roughly 300 milliseconds.
Equating one dollar to one euro might seem like a brilliant idea to a manager pinhead in an EA sales department but it tends to drive piracy.
That might also be the reason why the Chinese firm mentioned earlier in this thread figured it was cheaper to reverse engineer a foreign product from the ground up instead of paying the license fees.
Also, this is exactly how personal computers were wrestled free from the death grip of IBM.

I would argue that crying about someone stealing and supposedly butt-hurting developers is childish.
Bioware as so helpless yet charge $50 for a black hoodie that a China man got payed slave labor for? Or a bioware beanie/ball cap for 25 bucks? Yeah, okay pal, they're real starving artists...
I guess you would throw Shakespeare in jail for violating Ovidius' copyrights or Goeth for violating Christopher Marlowe's copyrights?

Stole it? First of all, I don't consider piracy to be stealing. Second, I could not be on this forum if I had not bought the game.
You don't consider it such because (most probably) you haven't created anything of value yet...
Try it, it might change your point of view.
They dont consider it stealing because they arent "physically doing it". The guy wouldnt walk into a game store and lift it, but he has no problem downloading it off the net for free. In reality there is no difference, stealing is stealing. You are just far less likely to get caught doing it one way than another.
The "its not really stealing" argument is tired, its stealing no matter how you try and justify/rationalize to make it not so.

You think Fallout 3 had a better story than ANY BioWare game? Whatever you were smoking when you played it must have been pretty good. Also, your "formula" only applies to ME2 and arguably BG1. No other BW game is that straightforward. In fact BW is sort of infamous for major plot twists (see KOTOR, Jade Empire in particular) so I can only assume you haven't played many of their games.
But yeah Bioware used to tell epic stories with deep and complex branching story arcs and crazy plot twists. We're all wondering WTF happened with ME2.

Well, as I see it ME2 was designed as a setup for ME3 more than anything else. There's a lot of foreshadowing for some big "reveals" in ME3 (dark energy and the Shadow Broker come to mind). I agree that ME2 is, narratively speaking, one of the weaker BW games. It's a lot of fun anyway and the characters are great, but it does next to nothing to move the franchise forward -- which actually is pretty common for the middle title in a trilogy.
I was pretty pissed off about some of the apparent narrative inconsistencies in ME2, but they are more plausible than they appear to be at first. The only thing I remain annoyed about is the retconning of Cerberus, from a violent, xenophobic, renegade Black Ops terrorist group into a bunch of teddy bears who just want what's best for humanity. Other than that, the Reaper/Collector plot etc. actually does make sense if you think about it.

Kotor has a major plot twist? You mean you being Revan? You do know how many people actually figured this out way before it happened?
