I pretty much agree with the OP 100% on CB: all or nothing. I actually agree with almost all of the OP.

High Praise, AG, thank you :).

Regarding Cryo Vs. Assault armor against husks... I actually tried it boths ways, even before I wrote my guide, and I consider myself a fairly decent tactician, that being said, I could really never get enough unarmored husks together to make a big cryo bomb really work.  Meanwhile, it's NO problem at all getting husks to beat your armor down, and the AE range of an Assault Armor explosion is Almost overpoweringly far.  I can't think of a single time when, even when I just stood there and took it, did they manage to blow off my armor before the cooldown was up.  (Maybe I was lucky?)  So basically at that point, your job is to make sure an abomination doesn't sneak up on you, because THAT will ruin your day.

I love Cryo blast, I just don't think it's a good weapon against husks... i absolutely LOVE freezing Collectors with it though. (heh as my videos show! :D )

Collectors have a tendency to chicken out when you rush them, so a lil Cryo goes a long way towards making them rethink that :)  (uh, Note to anyone who hasn't tried it yet, this does NOT apply to harbinger... he's neither impressed by your ability to freeze is pals, nor afraid of your desire to confront him face to face :D ).

Cheers!

I just started an Insanity Sent run. Only got Mordin and Grunt so far but have 0 deaths. It's been super easy actually.

I took inferno grenade as my bonus because it feel the most thematic choice and it's been tons of fun.

Actually all things considered, Inferno grenade is one of the few skills that DOESN'T fall in line with Sentinel... it's a combat skill... which a sentinel doesn't normally dip into :)

have you tested shotgun? the Evi is quite powerful (provided you have it). I have an early post-adv.weap.training save with AR, but I consider switching to shotgun for a Assault Sentinel. I have just beaten Infiltrator on Insanity (piece of cake), but I prefer to work on my Vanguard NG+ on Insanity. thats why I love shotguns (though I use Calymore)

You betcha. Shotgun is godly for an assault sentinel. I chose the widow though, so any video I post will follow Christina's rules. But essentially anytime I spray someone upclose with my SMG, the Eviscerator woulda done it faster and better.

Hm BioWare made a strange decision releasing a very powerful shotgun for every class (thru adv weap training). On the other hand, ARs and SRs that are available now thru AWT on Collector Ship are very powerful too.

I will have fun with Assault Sentinel thanks to your guide

Yeah it sure is. Sentinel is a tactical jack-of-all trades. He is like a swiss army knife on the battlefield. It makes total sense for him to carry grenades.

Interesting read right there with alot of humourous quirks ;p Im doing Sentinel Harcore right now with geth shield bonus as extra defense, works great at medium to long distances while using the tech armor at shirt to medium.

Cant waith for trying out Insane myself, gotta be a pain in the ass if not planning carefully, just lovely. Gotta kick em all in their daddy bags ^^,

Does shield boost and tech armor stack? If so, that sounds insane. You would have like 600 sheilds and +35% to damage or something crazy.

Its stacks addivitvely (like 100% +100% = 200% extra shields) so its not as insane as it sounds. Still, press barrier or GSB and you recover all your shields so its kinda worth it. Tech Armor visually overrides the other shield bonuses though. You can check how much shields you have in the level up screen.

I get around 850 shields with my assault armor and heavy barrier.

What's the deal of not using bonus power? It was a request?

Its stickied on top of the characters, classes, and builds forum. Christina has challenged everyone to come up with their own videos that showcase each classes skills. Obviously bonus talents can be taken by anyone so its sort of a rule.

Glad to hear it helped! Which build did you use? The Assault or the Tactical build?

A little late on my part haha :P..  I used the tactical build.

Virtual Alex: You bring up a good point, Never really thought of it that way. If you consider the Sentinel to be a piece of everything, you're almost REQUIRED to take either Inferno Grenade or Fortify just to get a little slice of combat skills in your arsenal. -- Good show.

Orfinn: Glad you enjoyed the read. I go back over it every day or so and realize it's awful damned long. I hope the short humor quirks help alleviate some of that.

Jgomezish: Tactical build is how I played through the first time. It was alot of fun, having a good bit of time to really get your squadmates involved in the fights, because you were pretty much at 100% capacity while standing behind cover.

Regarding bonus powers: Lets get some discussion going on this. Since I don't really use them anymore, I'm not the best source of information for it, but it should be part of the Guide, so lets here what you guys think.

So Far I've heard from:

The Ammo Advocates (This is where I would put my vote). General consensus is either Warp or AP. (either are great).

The Shielding Advocates: Barrier or Geth Shield, for a Sentinel would work out to be about the same.

We have a call for Inferno Grenade, based on RP jack of all trades.

Reave: (Pfft, really? EVERYONE says reave)

Energy Drain: This is a Shield Burner that gives you shields back. I think this one would benefit Commander Shepard moreso than Commando Shepard. Just my opinion though.

What else ya got?

Doh! Totally Forgot about Dominate being mentioned: short cooldown, Organic Hacking... There's alot to be said for this one. Especially with all the duration bonuses Sentinels bring to the table.

Assault Sentinel has been one of my favourite insanity playthroughs so far, maybe because it just allows me to run in a shoot things in the face :)

When I did it, I used the Tempest as my main weapon, though the shotgun sounds really interesting, I might have to make this my next playthrough.

I'm wondering about taking GSB or Barrier as a bonus ability, won't that just conflict with the cooldown on tech armor? I suppose it'd be good to cast before a big encounter and then just use tech armor, but global cooldown makes me wonder if it's worth taking either over say, an ammo power.

I personally recommend ammo powers for Sentinels (especially assault sentinels) as they already have so many active buttons to mash that adding another one seems kinna wasteful. I try to recommend against GSB or Barrier as an Assault sentinel (Mostly because I revel in having the armor explode around me as often as possible), but they're a VERY good option for Tactical Sentinels, to keep Power Armor up (I recommend Barrier Rank 4 for the 3 minute duration in this case).

Oh no way. I highly recommend against a duration increase. With a Tech Armor on you its smarter to just keep pressing the barrier button instead of the tech armor. It resets the barrier duration and puts your shields to full. Your never in any rush to press the barrier button either. A minute is long enough trust me. I use this on my assault Sentinel to good effect, its probably my favorite build in the game.

Why would you want your Assault Armor to last though? I would never use a shield boost as a Melee Sentinel, I WANT them to blow my tech armor off. I personally only recommend a shield bonus while pursuing the Tactical (behind cover) sentinel build.

The longer your armor lasts the more warps you can send out without worrying about cooldown. What I do is I time barrier before my shields go off and then its like me getting hurt never happened. By the time they're done with the other bar, my tech armor has recooled (remember they have to reload, and your invincible for like a half second while you recover shields, not to mention its still two layers of shields on top of each other).

So I basically get the energy blast from Sentinel the same amount of times either way. Its definitely an endgame tactic, as you need Tech/Biotic Cooldowns and Hard Shields to make it really effective.

Ahh, Different playstyles I s'pose. I generally only use warp if I'm bombing, or in cover stripping armor off someone. my damage to health normally comes from Melee pounding after either freezing or throwing an enemy.

Glad you're enjoying it. Heh, I died quite a bit early on, testing how far I could run before getting my shields blown off :D
