I've played through as a soldier a few times, and I've been curious about the Sentinel. On casual or normal, is playing as the Sentinel tougher, easier, or about the same? Also, if I'm doing NGP, can I change Shepard's class at Project Lazarus? (I really want to keep my Geth shield boost and Viper, yeah, I know Sentinels can't use it, but that means that Garrus and Zaeed will have it from the get go).

The Sentinel's biggest draw is it's inherent durability. Max your Tech Armor and Passive abilities first, then move on to the others and you'll be a walking tank. You won't need Geth Shield Boost at all as a Sentinel either since Tech Armor is so much better. And by so much, I mean soooooo much.

I'm playing around on Mordin's loyalty mission right now, but have to take a break to watch Castle. Will see about making a vid and posting it by tomorrow. As usual, I have a totally unorthodox build and having too much fun with it.

It's nothing special in the sense of powers I chose, just the fact that I chose them at that level over other powers.

Ok, here it is.  Mordin's loyalty mission with my Sentinel.  I have zero points in Warp and it's still hard to believe it's on Insanity.

Level 22
4 Heavy Throw
0 Warp
4 Power Armor
2 Overload
4 Deep Cryo Blast
4 Guardian

ME2 - Sentinel - Complete Control

Awesome, it certainly shows that alternate builds are very viable in ME2. One thing; isn't Full Cryo Blast the AOE version while Deep Cryo Blast is just longer duration? Isn't it better to affect multiple targets than one for a longer time, especially since the normal levels of Cryo Blast only increase duration?

I still think a CQC Assault Sentinel would be more fun, but I guess with this one and the Vanguard full control video you've shown an entertaining alternative.

You still have something like 1.2 meters of AoE on Deep Cryo and by the time you get around to maxing that power out, you should have your third Tech upgrade + Guardian for a whopping -50% cooldown.  Only difference now?  2 more seconds of freeze time.
I've played with both Area and Deep because I wanted to give Deep Cryo a chance and not just discount it, and I find I like it more.  I still get multiple enemies in one shot and if I don't, the cooldown is only 2.75s, so I can just fire another one off right away.

That's also another point about a Guardian Sentinel:  Aside from Tech Armor, Overload is the only ability with a cooldown of 3s or higher.  I don't have Warp (which is the same as Overload) so it doesn't matter.  I pretty much just spam Throw and Cryo and (especially with Throw) it feels like my cooldown is over by the time the animation is through.

So why Commander and not Commando?  Or Power Armor vs. Assault Armor?  I just wanted to do something different and Power Armor works better with the Cryo-Throw build (henceforth called the Shatter Sentinel).  I tend to make enjoy making odd builds and it seems to me that the Assault Sentinels are popular enough.

I have to say that I think that Assault Armor is definitely more fun in my opinion. It gives you a total of 125% bonus shields, plus a super huge radius to the pulse which does insane damage. I don't know how people can see a 15% more damage bonus worth it. I guess it's the little Vanguard in my heart that just loves to charge.

Yikes! My post is still flying! Updates soon, I'm waiting on the New SMG before I touch the game again.

Well, at the Defender evolution, you have to choose between +15% power damage or an extra -10% cooldown. If you take Power Armor and Guardian, you can have both a power damage bonus and a cooldown bonus. Or you can take Power Armor and Raider for a huge power damage boost (+50% from regular upgrades, +15% Power Armor, +15% Raider for 80%, +any other bonuses from Blood Dragon Armor or N7 Armor).

You compensate for the lack of warp with Mordin and Samara. Double defense killing is always sufficient compensation for any classes shortcomings. For Shields that would be Miranda and Garrus.

Great vid - again. Will definitely try something like this out, the way you were bouncing that poor warlord around was hilarious
Also, I like the music you use in your vids - good choices!

I actually did it once with Jacob instead of Samara and found that his Squad Incendiary Ammo gave me a bigger bonus than Samaras lvl2 Reave.  Sure, she can knock off the armor of a Vorcha, but so can one shot from the Carnifex or Vindicator.

I can do it again without any Squadmates it'll just be a lot slower.

I want to respec my sentinel now and try this :D I personally would've gone with area throw and area cryo, but I can see why you wouldn't, since warp only affects one target, unless you use a warp explosion.

Deep Cryo is great on mishes where 90% of the enemies want to rush you.  It's like my argument with the different Cloaks for the Infiltrator.  2s doesn't sound like much on paper, but when you are trying to juggle two Krogan and three Varren, you want things to stay frozen longer and 2s is a long time.

Throw?  Well, there is a noticeable difference from launching enemies with Area Throw and the hilarity of sending others into orbit with Heavy.  I take Area Throw on my Adept and it's great, but as a staple power on my Sentinel I want the strongest version.  Besides, an upgraded Pull works for 5-7s and Throw's cooldown is something ridiculous like 1.5s.

I've been wanting to do the suicide mission with my Sentinel for a while now but I haven't really had the time, sadly.  Anyway, I got a Facebook friend request from an ex-girlfriend yesterday that my friends and I used to always joke about her having crazy mood swings.  She was always hot or cold and that gave me an idea so I buckled down and did this:

ME2 - Sentinel Insanity - Suicided Mission

Awesome video, as always. I might have the reconsider the Flamethrower after seeing that.

What was the build this time?

The Flamethrower can be fun with the right class. The squishy classes might suffer a bit trying to use it though.

In the Video I was:

4 Heavy Throw

3 Warp

4 Power Armor

2 Overload

4 Deep Cryo

4 Guardian

That video was awesome! There is no such thing as too much FemShep, especially when she is kickin' some arse. That song was perfect too. :D
